Sorry for my bad English

In the operational mode ( 2 D ), make a crtl + LMB on the air spotter, or on the company commander
Check in the right ide, you have a supply strategie option, left click on it until you have reinf support.
Then in tactical mode ( 3 D ) you can have an air spotter with target zone.
Same for the off map arty

I am in the 3rd turn of the first campaign as Germans, reinforced every command platoon with 'support' strategy but have yet to see any air support, I watched a video yesterday and a guy had stukas arrive during the first battle of the first turn, he didn't call it in or set up a target zone, the planes just appeared, he was surprised to see them in fact.

I am 8 or 9 battles in without a single plane making an appearance.

Is it a random mechanic?

thx zeufman, i can test it in my mission ;)

@wildman, you must find the Air spotter Squad...if you can not find, he is not even there...

I checked, you are correct, there is no air spotter squad on the entire battlefield, this is in spite of the fact that I reinforced 10 - 12 platoons with support strategy.

I have to say this seems a little strange, either air support was available during this operation or it was not, I understand the new system does not allow us to cherry pick which units join specific platoons, but surely the game should ensure that an air spotter is included some place? So the Germans will have no air support for this campaign, but next time maybe they will... this doesn't feel very 'Graviteam' to me.

Yes
Yes, this is my point, I don't have an air spotter anywhere on the operational map, I checked every platoon TO BE SURE, and there is no specialist air support platoon with plane icon like you show in your helpful screenshots there either.

Oh wait maybe in Air support, but WHERE IS MY AIR SUPPORT?

Indeed, the last time I came here for help my topic was locked because 'too similar to existing topics', now I think 'join another topic it's the same subject' but ... yeah, never works out for me asking here...  ::)

I do find it is hard to get a straight answer without riddles sometimes also.

I do find it is hard to get a straight answer without riddles sometimes also.

It's very bizarre, it's a simple question that they know the answer to, but instead of helping they prefer to waste the OP's time, their own time and the time of anyone else who has the same issue with silly replies that help nobody.  :-[

I love their games but they are really anti the customer sometimes, a simple answer to a simple question and everyone is happy, what is to be gained by ignoring the question? only they know.  ???

Why so sarcastic Andrey?  It really wasn't so obvious why the air support squad was not showing on the map.  Why do you have to go out of your way to try to make the guy feel like an idiot?  Maybe you're not cut out for this customer service stuff.

Well to be fair his specialty isn't  customer service and I've never met a programmer with excellent PR skills.

But I do want to know the steps for the planes to get from where they are in andrey's picture to the battle field too.

Also tail gunners shooting at the ground, is that actually a thing?

Developpers are sarcatics when you can find a reply yourself ;)

So when air support is available, they will just show up in the next battle without player needing to do something?  You don't need to assign the air support to particular units?

Sometimes I think it's a language issue...

Well to be even more fair, he should let Krabb handle those duties then.  He at least can be polite.

It's time they realized that they are in a customer service business.  Here is a customer that bought the game and presumably put money in their pockets and he has a serious question that gets answered like that.  If somebody has a question about your game the chances are that you have not made the information clearly available or obvious.  Just because you have spent two years developing the game and know it inside out doesn't mean that a new comer will find it so obvious.  Patience is needed and if you don't have it it's better not to respond.

You always get an answer. If the question is too simple, Andrey mocks you, but you get an answer from him or other developer or player.

You need to realize that you are in a technical forum here, not a marketing forum. Steam forums are more marketing than here. Nobody know this forum, only hardcore gamers.

I prefer this forum, with a high degree of technicality, rather than Steam forum with a lot of newbies with their "too simple" questions. And I like the philosophy of Andrey.

Fair points.

I too love the philosophy of Andrey, he makes me smile but, last night I really wanted to understand more about the way air strikes work. I have done the tutorials, read the manual and played the game, even now I am not 100% sure how it works. I think in campaigns the air spotters have been abstracted, ie they don't appear on the map and you cannot find them within a platoon (in the same way arty spotters can be found). I had a battle last night and an airstrike happened : ) I get it now!

I like it, it's different from op star and is less gamey, perhaps more realistic. Of course there is a language barrier, maybe my question was not clear enough, whatever, I have a lot of respect for the developers based on the quality of the software they produce, I hope that my 'simplistic' questions do not offend. I just want to get as much from this great game as possible.

Who designated this a technical forum?  And why does a technical forum mandate rudeness?  You are mistaken if you think all users here are "hardcore", whatever that means.  There's all types of gamers here.  Who's to say if a new poster here is familiar with GT games or not?

Every answer from a GT representative reflects on the product and the company.  If I spend money on a product I expect respect from the developers if I have a question.

I think Andrey is burning out on bug fixes and weirdo forum posts elsewhere.
