I was thinking about ideas for Steel armor (and op star as well I guess) how about an option that limits the deployment of units in tactical mode to the square they're in on the operational map, right now you can move them one square in any direction which can  let me reorganize an attack completely (over a river or other barrier).  Also a bigger buffer zone between the opposing deploy zones might help, started a few battles where the opposing sides were sitting right in front of each other at the beginning.

The other thing was immobilized units can still be moved around on the operational map and freely deployed in tactical, an option that sticks an immobilized unit to where it was immobilized (like a wreck model) until it's repaired would be cool and if the square is captured by the enemy the unit is automatically captured .  Problem would be how to manage the rest of the undamaged platoon at the same time (split off the immobilized unit into it's own platoon if the rest move away maybe?).

Bonus idea!  It'd be cool to be able to survey the whole operational map after the campaign is finished, have a look at the wrecks and damage across the whole battlefield.
