Playing the Iran/Iraq campaign and am having something weird happening since the last patch 1.03 ( another words I did notice this problem in the previous patches). Playing the Iran side with the M60, after I deploy my units and hit enter to go into the sim, as I'm in my M60 i get an immediate message one M60's (usually in my platoon) reports is retreating??? I go to that M60 cause I'm not understanding why it's retreating since the battle hasn't even started yet. The M60 appears undamaged but when I click on the "Damage Report" button the gunner reports the head something is damaged and the main gun won't fire. At first I thought maybe the M60 got hit by artillery or a RPG, so when I started the next battle I went straight off to exterior view and watched the other tanks in my platoon. Low and behold one of my M60's in my platoon immediately reports they are retreating, I check it out and sure enough it's this head damage again. Okay since I started the battle in exterior view I knew we were not under any fire direct or indirect... WTF is going on here? Then I thought maybe the game simulates equipment breakdowns? So I switched the sim mode to arcade and guess what...yep same thing happened! And it's ALWAYS this head damage that makes the M60 pretty much useless. It's never a track, engine or anything but this head damage...everytime. It's a real PITA since I really need my M60 platoon at full strength when going up against the Iraqi AI T-62's since they don't seem to suffer any mechcanical breakdowns EVER. The only mod I have activated right now is Flashburns Mini_Mod v1.5 ( i also have whukids IDF_addon 1.50 but it's inactive right now) but I don't recall these gents saying anything in their readme's about implimenting mechcanical breakdowns in their mods so I don't think thats the problem. Anyone else?

Another thing that is weird but I don't want to say it's a bug is the endless supply of T-62's the Iraqi's seem to get just at the right moment. I was finally finishing up my first Iran/Iraq campaign (IDF Mod  disabled). On the next to last mission I had Iraq on the ropes and I push deep into their territory. I was pretty low on M60's but at that time the Iraqi's had no T-62's left showing on the map, just BMP's and some troop. I started the last mission and somehow the Iraqi's managed to get a new (rather large) supply of T-62's! I got squat and what should have been a victory turned into a draw  Angry Probably could have won if one of my 4 remaining M60's didn't suffer head damage right at the start of the last battle  Roll Eyes

I know from working with modding stuff head refers to turret.  So was this tank in a previous battle?  Did it take damage?  If so it had not been repaired yet.  Where you playing with historical on or off?  If its off the ai can draw on reinforcements just like you can.  If its on they can not, and neither can you.   Tongue  If it starts the game from the start that is sort of odd.  There is a variable in the config that makes the turret broken at the start.

What platoon is this broken tank in?  Sounds to me like a 1 got in the wrong column in div pool file of mission.

Hi Panzerfaust,

Whew thanks Dutch thought it was just me and my install. But all the same I'm sorry your experiancing this also, real frustrating.

@FB,
I'm not sure of percentage but it mostly seems to happen in whatever M60 tank platoon I start out with after deployment start, it's immediate and happens on every start of every new battle right after leaving the deployment screen. I didn't think you messed with chance of mechanical breakdowns in your mods (didn't know it could be done)?

As for my secondary problem of my earlier post I'm playing everything on historical. The only cheat I allow myself is all units are visible on map, thats how I knew the Iraqis only had BMP's and troops left for the last mission so where those T-62 came from really suprised me. I really don't like using the units visable on map as I do feel it's a cheat but the AI in SABOW must have an advantage because they seem to see me with no problem no matter what foilage I'm in, the same cannot be said about me seeing them. The only time I seem to have the upper hand is at night. I can literally creep right up on any BMP or T-62 in my M60.

LOL about the night battles.... When you first start its awful.......when you master it you have MAJOR advantage.

You know what....  I think this may have happened to me too in iran iraq campaign.  I do remember months ago doing the WTF nothing has happened yet outburst.

May be an error in one unit in mission?  Not my mod......never touched any campaigns in mod.  The only one i did I released as a stand alone.

But I think you are on to something.....

I hear ya FB. When I first got SABOW I dreaded playing the M60 at night, now I pray for night battles  Grin I really like SABOW as I feel it's one of the best armored sim's I have ever owned, but the daylight missions (in relation to how I think the AI has the ability to "see you" far to easy) and this problem with the turret of the M60 is really starting to get under my skin. I have always wanted a tank sim that had a playable M60 in it (also wanted a playable Cheftain but thats another problem I hope gets fixed later). I really love the early post WW2 armor probably because thats what I grew up with and most armor sims tend to overlook these early "modern" tanks. I really hope Graviteam is able to expand in this direction, having a playable Cheftain, Centurian, Leopard A-1, AMX and some more maps and missions set in a hypothetical European campaign would be awesome.
