How's Zeewolf's Panther?

There is really not much not to like... it has the speed and maneuverability out in the field to help keep out of trouble and great armor for protection along with a powerful gun for those long distance shots, although at this time it has just one mission. But overall a wicked ride! LoL

You should e-mail him about the sound.

Yes, there was a lot of mixed emotions when Lighthouse went under. But then again we are very fortunate that both games have risen up and survived with thank's going out to Graviteam and the group of talented modder's of this community keeping tank gaming alive and you can not leave out the RO or I44 community. But also an item that I believe is important is that Steel Fury still has a lot of room for growth with such areas as the Japanese, Polish, French and Italian Campaigns.  And hopefully more people will see what is being offered and also the excellent community here and take an interest in tanksim gaming.

Compared with the Panther models in SF overall the Panther D is very simular in speed, maneuverability, protection and long distance hitting power of the main gun which can out gun the T-34's. The ZW cockpit is really well done and this gives a realistic feel to the game when playing the Panther in TvT. Also the tank shifts through gears more simular to real life, with added puffs of smoke from with the exhaust during shifts.

Have to say that the graphic's of the ZW Panther, skin and interior cockpit are a step up from the models offered in SF which I am not at all complaining about. SF vs TvT... there are pluses & minuses for both games... but both offer a great tank sim for player's especially when talking about the out of box stock game for either game.

Just take a look at the Panzer Elite game and see how far modder's brought that game from the stock out of the box game. Yes, tank sims have come a long way over the years... I still have a working Fairchild Channel F game console with the Desert Fox tank game. Talk about days gone by! LoL

But thankfully to the game developer's and community of modder's, we all will be looking forward to seeing what the future will be offering us.

Interesting comparison Cheesy And cool to see. But from what i can tell, the models looks almost identical. Difference is its a much better texture in TvT, and also better shadows. That does alot Cheesy

Hi Woofiedog,

Thank you very much for the information about T34 vs Tiger with ZW mod !!

Let me ask a question: can you comment on the frames per second that you are getting now with ZW mod ?? The FPS have always been a problem for me with ZW mod. I have always got much better FPS in Steel Fury. I know the FPS obviously depend on your PC, but how many FPS are you getting now with ZW mod ?? Are they a problem for you to enjoy the mod ??

Thank you very much for your help !!

The low fps in Zeewolf's Kursk mod was one of the reasons I stopped buying into the scheme.During heavy artillery shelling I'd be lucky to get 8 to 11 fps and heavy stuttering.Whereas in the stock TvsT i'd easily get 40 or more.In SF with the same system I would easily get 40 to 60 and even in missions with lots of shelling, tanks at least 22 to 25.

I see you have the kill rings for the Panther too...;-))))

I like Zeewolf despite his somewhat unorthodox political opinions. He's a straight shooter and a very dedicated guy. I simply eish he would give tutorias to his members on how to use the ME.I asked him more than once and he always dodged the issue.

The PPX-2 mod for PE made by Shlomo and BritAldo44 really has given the ol' girl a lease on life.

Can not run some missions for Fraps testing today, but will do so in the next couple days or so. Can say I run either game with pretty much max settings with no studder or frame freeze.

My rig... Windows 7 Professional 64-bit,  AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition Thuban 3.3GHz, 3.7GHz Turbo, ASUS Crosshair V Formula motherboard with AMD 990FX Chipset, 8GB Mushkin Ridgeback Redline Enhanced DDR3, EVGA GTX 580 and a Silverstone Strider Plus 1000W. I do not overclock, although I could from the built in OC system of the motherboard.

My NIVIDA control setting for both games.

Steel Fury.

No problem and hope you can use the info.  Here are a few Frap screenshots while running the Panther mission. It is a good mission as it has the artillery blasting away in the begining. Frame rate was at the lowest 17 and 27-30 at the highest.

Panther Mission Screens.

With the ZW Zitadelle M1 Attack mission the game was playing out at 3 to 10 frame rate and this mission has the largest artillery barrage of the missions. These I took while in the cockpit, while using the external camera frame rate was about the same. And while running this mission I did not encounter any freeze or studder even though the mission was running at a lower frame rate. I did try and setup a Fraps video clip, but I'm not to good in this area and all of my clips were too large for uploading at the file sites.

If there is any specific test you would want, I'll try and have a run with it.

Also ran a couple of MMP7 MP missions and was getting in between 80 thur 50 frame rate again using Fraps and there was no else joined in which would make a different I'm sure with the frame rate.

Yes...  MMP7 is an excellent TvT version with very much improved graphics, skins and other changes.

wodin... Infantry is in both games, if I had a little more time I'd have a few more screens. As in SF, TvT has infantry that attacks and supports the armor depending on the mission played.

But here are are a few screens.

Yes there's infantry in TvsT but it's just for show. They're totally passive and do nothing except run around begging to be machine-gunned.SF's infantry is a tad better: it's more reactive and at least they crawl, throw grenades at you, hide in trenches, shoot, run away from their tanks or positions although at times they just kneel waiting to be slaughtered.

Steel Fury and Panzer Elite are my off line tank sim's of choice. The community have advanced both to be excellent tank sim's with many vehicles and missions to play.

I would play SF constantly if it had multi-player, I know some people have no care for mp but I am lucky enough to have a great group of tanking friends and we enjoying nothing more than tanking online.

We have a very limited choice and the majority of us now mainly play World of Tanks. TvsT was never finished and the MP is poor because of it, hence no infantry, trees in different positions on the clients pc, etc...

We have also restarted playing Battleground Europe as it is now free to play, probably the most visceral mp tank sim, one mistake and you are dead and lots of players/targets to shoot at and be shot at Smiley

Hi frinik,

I am very grateful to have i44, RO and RO2, all of them have there merits and we are talking MP Smiley

Though none have a single persistent map of most of northern Europe to half scale as WW2OL has. Take this week as an example:

Started in Bastogne defending the town, did a nice job too Smiley

Log in next day Bastogne is now Allied, spent all the rest of this week trying to take it back. Had a very good session in the Pzr 4G yesterday, which ranged from inf removal to long gunning at 2.5km.

I like my tank sims to be in open environments where i can maneuver and go any way I wish, yes i44 has that and RO to an extent Smiley that is why I play them all on occasion.

Oh and don't forget Heroes and Generals now in open beta. Stupidly beautiful tank models Smiley and more work to be done on the tanks Smiley
