Hello Smiley

I've unfortunately been delayed, and now am leaving in May for the Marines instead of January. As such, I've decided to begin work on a new mod, this time devoted to the African Continent as a thank you for the community's continued support of my sub-par releases. The premise is simple; create a mod that allows the player to entertain visions of warfare on the African continent, reliving horrible tales of cruelty and slaughter in the name of an unknown leader for an unknown cause.

In the end, I hope to release a complete UN faction, complete with both NATO and Warsaw-Pact equipment as well as complete African factions.

Though my limited knowledge is expanding, any and all information on the subject would be greatly appreciated Grin

And now for our Feature Presentation

new weapons, men, and uniforms
AFRICA: RED
- G3 rifles
- Flashburn's wonderful helmets
- New uniform colors (not showing up in game for some reason)

AFRICA: BLUE
- AK-47's
- More of those helmets
- Bush hats and minor tweaks to the uniform (same as above)

New editions to the Quick Battles menu

Can you spot them all? Wink

So far, only 4 new textures for the BTR 60 (Sudan and Kenya), T-55(Sudan), and the T-62(Sudan, but more of a stolen Nigerian camo scheme. Don't think about it and it'll make more sense.)

Sudan

Kenya

(NOTICE THE NEW FLAGS, NAMES, ECT.)

And now for some in-game shots Smiley

Unfortunately, there seems to be a terrible bug with the tanks for some reason. It seems that turning out as the TC or starting a QB without infantry doesn't sit well with the engine.

Cool, I really like the camo patterns on the BTR and 62

The Sudanese scheme is very ugly but surprisingly accurate. I haven't decided whether or not to keep it though, seeing as the Sudanese only own 60 BTR's of all types.

Keep it, makes for some variety.

I only wish SABOW would allow for the camera to be attached to units other than player controlled tanks, it's a shame that a lot of the paint schemes can't be seen other than if the vehicles are close to the player units.

Finally past the "30 second" Bug, as I call it. Something in the UNITA and Angola config files.

First full battle! Now to begin adding more skins

EDIT:
Ratel trio in UN whitewash (attempt 1)

Updated UN vehicles (fixes to the Ratel, 1st attempt at M113)

Updated Kenya

On to Uganda and Nigeria, and then to see if the uniforms swap out the same way skins do.

Absolutely massive problems editing files for the "Rebel" nation. No idea why

No. It's very, very picky at the moment. Maybe a uniform bug, I haven't figured it out yet. I'm going to host what I have tonight, as I'm moving to Texas with my family this weekend. Should my computer take a dump somewhere along the way, I'll be able to continue progress

Well, Im' not sure I'll have a computer at the end of the day, so here's the first release. This is merely a beta, if you will, and only has 2 complete nations. The Rebels (formerly mujahadeen) have been disabled due to the fact that I can't figure out what the hell is wrong with the config file and no time to fix it. Smiley

Thanks for sharing your work with us.

I'm a bit confused by what you mean by only 2 nations, does that mean only 2 will be playable and the others non playable? Also if I install this mod can it also be un-done through the updater program? sorry I'm not familiar with what happens when you disable a mod and want to be clear on it.

I meant there's only two complete skin packs; Sudan and Kenya. The others are stock, as I haven't edited them yet.

The updater undoes everything the same way you install it Smiley very handy.

Installed and the camo shows up in the encyclopedia but when I tried a quick battle I got a 001 error crash. Also in the quick battle editor I've got text that is overlaying the buttons on the setup pages.

Ok the 001 crash was just a random one, other than the text overlaying the buttons everything looks good. I really like the wavy pattern camo on the T-62.

Thanks again for the work.

Have you ever thought of giving the M-60's some USMC camo?

Hmm. When, and with what settings? Try enabling flashburns ISABOW mod and then the Africa mod. This mod requires the august patch, too

I haven't come to a conclusion on the US idea yet. If i get the chance, id need to add and change a ton of things to get the US accurately represented. Lots more air support, of course Smiley I find that doing just a visual makeover isn't very immersive. You need weapons, speech, and vehicles as well

I believe I had NATO vs One of the African nations. 4 M60's vs 4 T-62's. Everything was fine until the M60's start firing and then it was a consistent 001 error.

I'll try the ISABOW mod with this one and see if it helps.

Hmm. that's odd. I haven't edited anything with the M60's, or the Iranians in general. Their file wasn't even included in the mod  Huh?

well, back to the drawing board. Apparently something with the config files again. They seem to be so temperamental after the August update.  Angry
