Read this book about 30 years ago when I was up in Alaska with the Army. There are a few interesting parts in the book that would make for some decent Quick Battles in the game.
The US Army payed alot of German officers to write memoirs of their service in Russia during WW2 so that the Military Staff Colleges could teach the subject matter to combat officers in case the cold war with Russia ever went hot.
I used to have a book about small unit tactics written by a German officer who served with the German Army in the Northern sector during Operation Barbarossa up to the seige of Leningrad. That book had very many highly detaled regimental and battalion campaign and battles written in it with plenty of maps too if I recall correctly.I wish I could recall the name of the book and the author.I'd like to buy that one again,I have no idea what I did with my copy and its been about 30 years since I read that one too.
I've read plenty of books on the Russian front but that book probably was the best,it's a shame I can't recall the name or author anymore.I've looked all over the internet but the book seems to have never been republished and vanished from history.I hope not,I think I'll search the internet more and see where it's hiding, there's got to be some old copies laying around somewhere collecting dust.
