I've got a nvidia card, I put everything on -1 and...... Noice. Thanks will! This makes game look much nicer, you should put it in the FaQ for people to try to see if it works.

I think this is because u've ATI videocard. Lockie not sure what you mean by that? That ATI card do not give off quality images in game? I mean, that according to my experience nvidia has less problems than ati. I got clear picture with drum-gunsight, meanwhile will1973 had to adjust config to see the same picture as me. He has ati card. Anyway, it's a complex problem, coz I've win xp sp2 and there are many variants as pros and cons.

I certainly didnt have it way back when I played it on xp. That's a problem of the game, same as upper part of picture cut off. SF doesn't want to play with other OS except XP.

Also how did someone figure out that putting -1 there would do anything? Theres no indication that theres any setting for size other than 0.

Flanker; this is interesting stuff but I am not sure I am following you when you say " ... Remove this amount of the grass .5 = 50%..." Are you suggesting chnaging the default values from 0.000000 to 0.500000 for both micro_lods and trim?

If you want to you can it'll improve performance. For instance if you changed micro_trim = 0.000000; to micro_trim = 0.500000; only half of the grass that normally would be rendered will be drawn ergo grass would have 50% less impact on performance but grass would look less dense. micro_lods = 0.000000; does the same thing but instead of removing the grass all together it drops its lod to one worse than it should be (if grass had a lod which I don't think it does so this one probably won't do anything so leave it on 0, it's important for plants though).

What about increasing the values to 1.000000?It means the ground will be flat without any grass being rendered?This is probably what happens by default when the game does not recognise your graphic card and ascribes only 128 mbs of video memory or less.It defaults to 1.0000000 or something like that.

I totally disagree with Lockie on that one.I have seen dozen of posts by people playing SF with Nvidia gpus and complaining about their video cards not being recognized by the game and none from ATI owners...That being said I am neither an Nvidia nor an ATI fan boy; I like both brands and will purchase a brand based on value and reviews not on subjective opinions.
