I think this topic will be interesting. Let's see what the tanks we've seen in the movies and does they really appropriate to the original Wink
Here's mine screens.
Movie `Ballada o soldate`, 1959.
I think instead `Tiger I`` there was T-54.

PS
My guess with T-54 was wrong. Tank is closer to T-44.

An M3 Lee tank in the 1943 movie Sahara, staring Humphrey Bogart, and of course the M3!

To me what really annoyed me was that horrible film, the Battle of the Bulge, a 1965 dud starring Robert haw and Robert Ryan. Instead of making an effort to at least try to reproduce Tiger IIs they used  M47 Patton tanks which do not look alike at all.....

Once when I was travelling to Russia and Belarus I aw a couple of old Soviet WW2 films. Don't ask me the title but one from the 60s or 70s  had a scene with German Tiger Is and infantry attacking a Sov position defended by a blond guy who manned an MG  then jumped to a small AT gun and died trying to take the Tiger I out.I was impressed by the effort to reproduce a Tiger tank but the explosions looked a bit underdone....

Cross of Iron too impressed me with those authentic T34-85( post WW2 production models though) chasing German infantry.

I loved the film the Beast a 1988 American film about a Sov tank squad in the Afghan war although frankly the shameless propaganda aspect of showing a Soviet tankman who defects to the savages( the so-called Mujahideen) and helps them destroy both his tank (a T-55) and former comrades really irked me.... I wonder if the American were to make a film about their own Afghan war of they would portray the Mujahideen in such a favourable light?Huh??The Soviet-Afghan war of 1979-1989 is the only war in which I sided firmly for the Soviets...The tank scenes were really good and the setting is stunning.

A few real tanks in this 1946 British movie Theirs Is The Glory, filmed in Holland with real Panthers and a Tiger 2 if I recall correctly. Also real guys from the battle, no actors!

Obviously an inexpensive knock-off of the classic movie, "A Bridge Too Far".

Were captured Tigers and Panthers used in the filming or did they simply use German war footage?Huh?

I had read somewhere that these were vehicles that were used for the movie and not war footage Smiley

Tali-Ihantala has quite a few originals, all of them aside from the KV-1 I believe. But there are original T-34s (mod.1941 and /87), SU-152, T-26, and four StuGs. Talvisota has quite a few original T-26s as well.

By the way, anyone know anything about the muzzle brake on the barrel of the T-34 mod. 1941?

This picture is quite impressive. I never realized that T-34/76(mod. 1941) exist in the museum, never thought this tank in running order!

BTW
I think KV-1e was made on the base T-34/76.

It's a 1943 Finnish modification of some of their T34/76 model 1941 tanks that they captured from the Soviets.

Mmm, figured that much, what effect or point did it have though? The gun on the default Mod.41 didn't need one, was it up gunned, or using a more powerful round? And Lockie, it's great to see these machines driving in that film, I would highly recommend seeing it if you can. There is both that captured one in the film, as well as one in Russian colors.

There is the big gun show down of a Tiger tank [T-34] in Kelly's Heroes.

Also in the same movie are the loudspeaker setup of the M-4 Sherman tank's.

Saw that on TMC not long ago, what was the best part for me, was before the movie start, host Ben Mankiewicz was saying during the movies' initial release the then ex president/gen Eisenhower came out of retirement and spoke out about the film inaccuracies.

Tali-Ihalta was the best tank movie ever. I don't think any other movie in the history of movies has gone so far to have historical accuracy.

I think Patton might be a personal favorite of mine though, even if they're using M47's and M48's instead of real tanks..

Here`s announcement about new movie "Fury" with Bred Pitt. ("Fury" the name of tank)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2713180/
April, 1945. A battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Wardaddy and his men face odds in their attempts to strike at Nazi Germany.
Suppose, this is M4A3-76

BTW
This is a good scenario for the mission with "Firefly"  Grin
