Noticed this today playing a Valentine mission, checked the common_res and yep the Mk1 has 10g and Mk2 has 30g of explosive.  Didn't neither of these shells have any explosive in them?  Or are the books wrong?

As I remember, these values originals from the game. If u remove explosive then shell will not make damage. But u may try to remove explosive and see what happens.

BTW
At the same reason APC shells (undercaliber) are almost not effective, coz doesn't has explosive. I added 50gr explosive to Panther's PZGR40_42 and now theses shells are deadly for any tanks. Though, I still hesitating, should it be added to the March Upd?

I think so, as I almost never use the APCR for the Panther/Tiger/KT as the regular APC is just so much better at taking shit out once/if it penetrates...

They don't do no damage, just have to actually hit the internal object to kill it.  They do allot of damage but only to things they pass through with limited spall as well which is how they performed historically.

I was able to take out armor with the valentine after I switched them to 0 explosive.  Also if you add explosives in you lose the ability to shoot through targets at other targets.

Also for fun:

The 4000kg shell KV-2

Well that was to be expected

Kept going for about 600m

Hit a Pz4 with it, don't know where it went but it's not on the tac map anymore

Explosive in the shells it's a compromise, coz internal objects were poor modeled in the game and didn't react properly on the APCR shells. This discussion had place:

I personally haven't had a problem killing tanks with APCR plus I use them a lot to hit things behind buildings and stuff so I'll keep mine explosive free.

I was playing around in the common res and noticed that the APSC tagged shells like Pzgr40 use the cumulative value as part of their stats.   It seems like it's the diameter of the subcaliber core.
