A slightly different topic; an Iron front Liberation 1944 for Arma III has been released. Here's a video trailer.Looks very , very good and the maps are so huge so nice.....

Combined armed operations in both Arma II and III make WT look like a kiddie sim...

BRING BACK MARKERS

Frinik is that the mod that was available for Arma 2 or a re-release of the separate game that was made with the Arma 2 engine?

Ah NVM, I see it is the original separate game updated for Arma 3.  Very cool.

Tanker I think it's the latter...It's the game based on the Arma engine which was released by Deep Silver in 2012.

BRING BACK MARKERS

Yeah I went to the site and it says you should be able to get it going with the Play with Six launcher if you have the original game.  I had some problems with the path to the game and haven't gotten it to work yet.  Invasion 44 was a very good game and I wish they had kept developing it.  Not a true simulator but enjoyable for combined arms.

Yes I agree I have the i44 mod installed and it's truly interesting. The engine sounds for the tanks are awsome! The armour part well it's not a sim for sure. The other day I played a user-made scenario on the Chernarus map and my Kingtiger was destroyed in one shot by a Sherman from over 800 metres... But the maps are huge and there are so many ( I am a map collector at heart; I have 78 maps in SF and 28 in Arma II) which you can use to make interesting scenarios both modern day and WW2.

It's a pity that the modders of i44 and those of IFL 1944 never collaborated; they could have made the very best combined armed WW2 game/sim ever.

There's a team currently working on the Iron Lib Front renewal which should make that game better and bug-free that ought to be an interesting project...

Anyone here played IFL 1944 with the Russian 'Hard Mode' group?

they have modded the game and use a TS3 plugin so the experience is similar to the shacktac milsim realism games for arma. If not I recommend you try if you have this game.

Server is locked to first person.
Only direct chat works so if you fall out of earshot from your squad mates and lose sight of them then you are lost. Also whisper/talk/shout modes so you don't alert nearby enemies.
Only one radio per squad, only one map per squad and only one life per mission, when you die you get to watch a tactical overview of the battle and are moved to a TS3 cemetery channel with all the other dead guys.

Very intense gameplay and truly one of the most unique FPS  experiences out there. They usually play Wednesdays and Sundays and get up to 60 players. its PvP so no bots, Germans v Russians obviously and people from many different nationalities join in.

here is some info, Shurik is one of the admins and a very nice fella - http://ironfront.forumchitchat.com/post/russian-hard-mode-comunity-on-arma2-ru-6257249

I have heard of them. I remember reading that Shurik fellow inviting guys playing the 29th Panzer to their server. I don't own the game yet I am waiting for the renewal mod before picking it up.
