It may be that after creating the mission in the mission editor they used the optuion launch mission with only the AI takign part and from that option you can use the free cam? I did it once.

Well I installed the free cam mod but when I invoke it in game with the correct keystrokes...nothing happens. I'm still locked to circling around the player's tank.

About the Free-cam. After installation of the mod, there's a couple of extra steps needed: 1. To get it to show up in the Control Settings, you have to click the 'Default' Tab. This will return all keyboard / mouse controls to the original settings. The Free-cam should show up under 'Miscellaneous' as 'Debug Camera'. The default key control is Shift + F11. 2. Change the Debug Camera key control to something else, for instance, "Shift + M". (You may also want to re-enter all your previous customized settings). Then press 'Save'. Thanks Kyth. Changing the debug camera to shft m did make it work. It's curious that it does not seem to work in the stats phase. During that phase the camera seems tied to what ever vehicle you are looking at. Before the stats phase I get a bird's eye view and I can move around the battle field.
