Allied troops in battles have no sound. The sound sometimes appears later during the battle, but it comes off again. Sometimes some of the units have sound, some don't (allied units - my own units and enemy always have the sound).

Is this a problem with my game, or is it a known issue?

I believe allied units are like enemy units - if they are not close enough, you cannot hear them. Maybe?

No, I don't think that's the reason. I can't hear allies even when they are close to my units, but can sometimes hear them when they are far away.

I have the same issue in SABOW too.

Have you installed DirectX 9.0c June 2010?

Ya, but it's optional.

Install DirectX 9.0c

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

It will co-exist with DirectX 11 and it is necessary for the game to work.

You have to download the file "dxwebsetup.exe" and then double-click on it to install DirectX 9.0c on your computer.

Or...you could just reinstall the game and allow the direct x that comes with the came to be installed.  Always allow the direct x versions that come with games to be installed by the game installer.  As mentioned they will coexist with what ever version of direct x is on the pc.

It's been a while since I installed the game, but yeah I'm pretty sure my DX is up to date. In general I don't have any problems with the sound, only with allied units.

Can someone do an experiment? Just setup a quick battle with some allies (preferably vehicles), and report here if they are making any sound once they start moving.
