Doing a reinstall on a new PC and no idea how I did this before. The new PC is drawing a blank on it...

Also, did I read somewhere that you are not supposed to instal in the default location?

Start game.  Go to updater.  Run updater.  Using the updater navigate to where you downloaded the .gt2 file.  Click on GT2 file.  Hit update.  A clock appears.  Wait for it to go away.  hit save and play.  Game launches patched.

BRING BACK MARKERS

Yeah, it's recommended to not put it in the programs (X86) folder.  I just make a games folder on C drive and put it there.  That's win 7.  I don't know about Win 8.

Ah, yes - that was it thanks. I think it is now coming back to me and I remember correctly, isn't it like that for installing the DLC as well?

Yes, but sometimes, at least in the past, you get desc.addpacks but the principle is the same.

Just to check this is right please:
I created "Games 1" on the C drive and installed gtos_setup_sep13_eng in there.
I followed the link on this forum and downloaded gtos_cu_581c1_eng.
This does not get picked up in the in-game Update area; it is an Application so I double-clicked it and installed it in the same place as the game.
Now I went to the Update area, clicked Install and then went to gtos_patch_dec14_eng.gt2extension and clicked that.
In the Game updater window it now shows:
#      Addon                Version          State          Author
1      Game update        4.18             Enabled        Graviteam(R)
Is this right; game up to date and I can proceed with the DLC...?

Seems to be right - says version 5.81 in the game (top right corner) and the DLC are in the list!

(gtos_cu_581c1_eng) not needed for the game installed using new (September 2013) installer from GamersGate and on Steam

Thanks, missed that. Doesn't seem to have done any harm.
