How to maintain spacing of squads?

I can through the orders determine squad spacing.

However, suppose I want to give an order to an entire platoon.  I there any way to give that order and maintain spacing without having to give each platoon the same order?

Select all the units you want and give the orders.  They will mishmash together and behave like an over grown squad.
