Play notification sound / sound signal on event / turn off

   During a battle I do not want to hear the ding sound every time one of my units is under fire , or for any other reason .
How is it possible to switch off this notification sound ?

It appears that the option to turn off the event notification sound is not available ? 

The sound is a big headache across the game , to the point that I play with no sound . Some sounds are great and atmospheric , others are just bad or annoying , like the constant ding of the event notification .  The incoming mortar sound is even worse . Incoming mortars do not sound like whistling penny rockets .

I have to agree,
the notification sound is a real immersion killer.
I'm sure it wouldn't be to difficult to add an option to turn it off.
Its making and losing a cable connection every 5 mins that drives me up the wall!
Maybe someone can make a mod that replaces the sound with silence?

Whats sound ?   

These guys are so cool ! Such a simple solution to the problem .

10) Message sounds in battle are played only when the message panel is expanded.
