Hi folks,

This problem has cropped up often enough to warrant a special sticky reminder.

So as a sort of public service announcement, here goes:

If you're a Windows 7 user, please do not, repeat, do not, install your copy of Steel Fury in the 'Program Files' folder. Sooner or later you'll encounter problems with patches, updates and mod installations.

For your own sanity (and ours) please install Steel Fury in some other folder, drive or partition.

Thank you.

From experience, ANY graviteam game/patching on windows 7 leads to pain if installed to programs.

Agreed.

Some further information about this Windows 7 (and Vista) phenomenon:

The folders "C:\Program Files\", "C:\Program Files(x86)\" and "C:\Windows\" are protected locations.
Any changes to files in these folders may be 'virtualized', i.e. the updated version is actually saved to a different location, under the user's profile folder.
To add to the confusion, evidently this does not happen all the time, or consistently.
So if you're lucky, you might get away with it once or twice, but somewhere down the line, the law of averages will start kicking in. Smiley

I got the same phenomenon.  The mods install updated versions of jsgme on the desk top.  I just kept the older version which was in the game folder.  You could eliminate that one and use one of the newer ones on the desk top if you wished.
