Greetings.

I'd really like to make more cool sound mods but currently I'm lacking on good quality materials. And here I ask you, if you have some good materials which could be used to create sound mod, post them in this topic. Links, attachments etc. Every good material is more than welcome.

Mostly I'm using various tank related videos from the web or war/military related movies but most of them are poor quality or for example good engine sound is interrupted by someone's talking (tankfest videos) or something like that. I'm sure that you know what I'm talking about.

Currently I'm hunting for nice materials to make decent reload sound. I tried to use TvsT sounds, but they didn't work, I think something's messed up with frequency.

We all know pretty well how good sounds can improve the game.

Any help will be appreciated.

About reloading sounds: Have you considered banging around with metal tools and objects in a workshop or a kitchen?

A surprising lot of movie sound effects are obtained that way, this is not a joke  Smiley

Hello Kyth, thanks for the reply.

Yes I did. But few things are crossing my plans. My mic records in very poor quality. I don't have any portable sound recorder so basically I can make and record sounds only in my room, wehere the computer and microphone is.

Most important thing to me is to make sounds as real as possible. Just like in

That's why I'm basing on videos so much.

Here you have excellent sound of panther/jagdpanther engine. Its one of the better videos with great sound in it.

And if you want gun sounds from like mg42 and maxim and all that search for a guy named C2Builder on youtube. He records in pretty high quality.

I have quite good sounds for Panther/Jagdpanther (IMO). Track sound is from one of the sound mods but I made my own engine sound some time ago. Soon I'll make a test video and you'll tell me if the sounds are good.

Here's promised test video of Panther sounds that I'm currently using.

As I said, track sound was already in "pillars" folder and I made my own engine sound.

Opinions?

Good sound! But it sounds very much like the sound we already have for the Panther D.However perhaps it could be used to make a distinct sound for the Tiger I instead? It seems that the Tiger I and II share the same sound in the game???

Thanks for the reply.

That's true, they really sound similar to each other. I got this engine sound from here track sound was already in pillar folder (probably it was with spm 1.5 mod). Back to the engine sound itself, I made a few changes in audacity, slowed it down and adjusted few things. My sound configuration for Panther is still work in progress, so I won't publish it yet. Sorry.

That's true Tiger I and II share the same sounds. I'm planning to make sounds for both in the future.

You can change sound files for different tanks in .engcfg files which are located in \Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942\data\k42\loc_rus\levels\LEVELS\tech_cfg just find correct line with sound name and change it. For example, open tiger.engcfg and change snd_pillars   =   test2; to snd_pillars   =   pillar_tiger;

These .engcfg files are cool stuff. You can make your own sound configurations for all vehicles in the game.

Now these are great sounds, thanks a lot lockie. I think that I'll make something from them.

If you have more materials like that, I'll accept them with open arms.

Daskal, Did you take a look at my video link? That is how a maybach sounds, Im not shure about all english words but from the video you took the sound the "pitch" is way to high and you dont really hear the engine.

But to make it a little easier for us. How should the sound be for you to get a good "template". Should we find sounds when a tank is idling for lets say atleast 5 seconds? Or when its running at high or low rpm for 5 seconds. Is it possible if you only hear for lets say a tank idling for 1 second? can you take that sound? Im looking for tank videos for probably 1 hour a day and if i find something you can use i gladly send you links. But i need to know what you can use or not Cheesy

Hello Donken.

Yes, of course I did. Video itself is great but sound from it is not quite what I'm looking for. I mean that it's hard to make something from it. Sounds are a bit too short. Guess what, I'll try again with this jagdpanther video but I don't guarantee anything.

I'll give you some examples od videos I'm looking for. Here they are and

Low and mid RPMs or are the best for engine sounds and tanks moving with medium or full speed are best for track sounds.

Thanks you very much for all your help.

Wow lockie, this is very impressive collection of weapon sounds and I'm VERY grateful that you shared your collection with me.

Btw. Here's reloading sound that I made from previous materials from you. http://letitbit.net/download/55618.5e326dff0dc56f09049486bc8090/reload1.wav.html Just paste it to \Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942\data\k42\loc_rus\sounds\inner

Tested on KV1 and T-34/76 tanks.

Enjoy! Opinions are welcome. I hope that this sound is close to reality.

And of course test vid

Greetings.

First of all I'd like to thank all people who helped me with materials for sounds.

Currently I'm working on complete sound pack for KV1 heavy tank, which is one of my favorite tanks in game. Sound pack for KV1 will be released when I'm 100% done, not earlier. I just don't want to release single sounds. Unfortunately I got stuck on the track sound, and here I'd like to ask you if you have any materials, or you know where to get them, for such track sound for KV1. I spent few days searching videos on YouTube with no result. I only found tons of KV1 RC models videos which are uselles because of terrible sound quality or presentations made from photos + some music.

Also attempts to create this track sound from other similiar sounds resulted in a complete failure

I'd be grateful for any help.

Regards.

Daskal I have a new track sound for the KV which I found and installed yesterday.I like it( much better than the originla one-fits-all sound they have for all Sov tracked vehicles anyway).I tested it and it works well without issues. If you'd like PM me and I 'll email it to you.
