Stig what flight sim are you into?IL2?  Your modelling talent would be more than welcome here! What tank models wpould have an inclination to make?

No, definitely not IL-2. Their FMs are one of the reasons I'm putting so much effort into trying develop something BETTER! Smiley Currently I'm auditing Simulab (based on JSBSim), but the method for developing FMs is proving to be very, VERY complicated and obtuse, not to mention very poorly documented. And my continued interest depends on there being a clear, concise and well-documented path to develop accurate FMs...

As for which models I'd be inclined to model for SFK42 ... I'd probably want to start with tanks that could flesh out the now-abandoned desert mod.

M3 Lee/Grant
Stuart
British Cruisers
Italian M11/39 and M13/40
Italian Semovente 75/18 and other configurations

Just as a start....

Some of these I've already modeled, albeit in very low poly versions as targets for a flight sim. Obviously they wouldn't pass muster for this sim, and I'd have to start over.

I'm currently attempting to make a copy of the Jagdpanther and turn it into a Jagtiger. Afterwards I was going to try making a Nashorn, ISU-152, and maybe a Maus [if all goes well Smiley ]. However, it's not exactly going as planned; I lack the $3000 editing software and "Blender" wont read the files. Any suggestions?

Very interesting plans!I can only hope for our collective sake as tanksim fans that your flight sim proves to be extremely obtuse and uncollaborative Grin

The problem with the desert mod is the darth of serious maps. There are 2 which ra enot bad but rather monotonous. Also SF¨s restrictive map size does not really allow to reflect the desert war with huge expanses of wasteland, sand dunes, rocky plains, rugged hills, wadis and Berber-Arab villages....One could only wish that the maps were at least the size of those in TvsT or even PE.

Still your models would be a good addition to the Eastern front since the Stuart and M3 were shipped to the Soviets. I don"t think the Italians fighting on the East front ever used their own, inadequate Italian tanks though....

Blender? Hem except for the one in my kitchen I am not familiar with that program...

Unfortunately I know little about modelling.Perhaps Lockie who is also active on the Sukhoi.ru Avia forum ,where the Russian/Ukrainian modders of SF are mostly located, or Kyth might be able to give you assistance or advice.Or you could post on that forum and ask for answers to your questions?

As my point it's a bad idea, but to play vs adjustments and config files it'll suit. As I know there's a special program which enable to capture model from the screen and after open it in 3d max. I'll try to find it. U may find some models here:
http://www.3d-wares.com/3d-models/war/war-tech/
http://goldenone.ru/?go=post&id=43
btw
there's already prepared model Wespe (Sd. Kfz. 124) Wink

http://www.turbosquid.com/gmax is a good free ware program. Also, making a Jagdpanter into a Jagdtiger? Wasn't the Jagdtiger based off the tiger though?

Thanks! to you and lockie! Yes, the Jagdtiger was based off the Tiger 2 chassis, however the tiger 2 is a tank and the Jagdtiger is an SPG. I figured it would be easier to edit the jagdpanther because I wouldn't have to mess with the whole turret thing

Well, that's rather the nature of the desert, isn't it? The only features would be wadis and possibly an escarpment, right? A few battles had a prominent hill in them, or maybe a ridge, but that's about it...

 Huh?

Just to bring to your attention, the Jagdtiger is quite different from the Jagdpanther, judging by the exterior:

You probably know which is which  Smiley

Do you think it would be easier to take the turret off a Tiger 2 and make the chassis? or to make the chassis over the turret and replace the gun/turret capabilities?

Unless you're talking a few minor alterations, it's likely always best to start over when creating a new vehicle, plane, whatever.
