Hi chaps,
I've recently started working again on my movie () after a 3 1/2 year gap and I have encountered a problem changing screen res. I usually run at 1920x1080 widecreen and that's just fine using the "use desktop resolution setting" however I wanted to use a 4:3 resolution such as 1024x768 and the program just won't run. I unchecked the "use desktop resolution" setting and changed the resolution and the mission loading screen just blanks out at 9% and eventually CTDs. This is the same for ALLl other resoltions (including other 16:9 resolutions) except the 1920x1080 desktop res. I checked the config file and the new resolution settings are being correctly written. Any thoughts much appreciated.
Cheers

ACES, WHAT KIND OF GRAPHIC CARD ARE YOU USING?WHAT'S YOUR DESKTOP'S NATIVE SCREEN RES?
HAVE YOU TRY RESETTING YOUR PC'S SCREEN RES TO THE ONE YOU WANT USING THE CONTROL PANEL and then setting the same screen res in game and this time checking the use desktop res box?

Hi mate,
I have a GTX550TI. My native screen res for my monitor is 1920x1080 which is what I use and usually use in-game. I might try changing my desktop res to, say, 1024x768 and then trying the game with "use desktop res" switched to on to see if it likes that.
Cheers and thanks

Edit: Yes, I did set my desktop res to the one that I wanted to use in-game and then firing up SF with it set to use destop res and it worked but, when I reset my desktop res to 1920x1080 and then fired up SF with use desktop res disabled and my new resolution selected it got to 9% again, blacked out and eventually CTD.

No joy, it simply blacks oujt and CTDs with any resolution other than the native resolution with "use desktop res" enabled.

Hi Aces!Have you triedsetting your screen res preferences using the Nvidia control panel? It seems to me that it's your gpu the culprit rather than your pc or the game.

Hi mate,
I'm inclined to think that you are right, I'll have another look at the Nvidia Control Panel tonight.
Cheers

Hi mate,
No joy I'm afraid, as I don't actually play the game other than for testing mods etc. and for my film I suppose it doesn't really matter at the end of the day, I'll capture at 16:9 and use pan and scan to get what I need.
I actually hate playing computer games now, bored with all of them and I'm always thinking that I have other things to do.
Cheers and best wishes

I have seen quite a few modders mofdding forvarious games/sims who seemto have beensuffering from a similar affliction;no interest inplaying pc games only modding them. Seems common enough!May be the act of creating takes away the need to play?
