Title: Broken link?
Post by: whukid on April 18, 2011, 12:03:57 AM
Hey guys, I'm really new to the Steel Fury forums and I was just wondering where you guys found all your mods. It took me a few minutes, but I eventually figured out why the FAQ post was there  ;D however, the link is broken or the site is down. Do you guys know where else to find the mods?

Install the files in this order:
Unofficial patch
Steel Panzer mod 1.5
SP 1.5 fix
SP 1.5 english

Most of the files can be downloaded from here:

There 's also the Tanksim.org.ru which is a precious source but it seems to be temporarily down.

You also have the Sukhoi.ru Avia forum where the Russian/Ukrainina modders who make most of the mods for SF are lmocated.YIt's in Russian but through Google translate you can easily read. Here's the link:http://forum.sukhoi.ru/forumdisplay.php?s=f968a3a60fc18d7e9f9b99618645b3f0&f=156

Those are the 2 sources where I primarily get my stuff first-hand.

Welcome to the forum Whukid! Did the editor bat files I emailed to you work?

yea they did! thanks alot! I ended up re-downloading the game off of amazon and copying your files before activating SP 1.5, which I think was the problem. Are the files I'm about to download also in Russian? like will they turn my game cryllic like SP1.5 before the English patch?

One more question,
I was having trouble using the Marder II and the SzdkW 231 or whatever (the second entry). How do you use them? Like do you activate them through JSMGE? or do you have to copy them directly into the game folder? The same thing goes for the Kubelwagen mission, because I CTD on it everytime I attempt to start..  >:(

whukid even if the files you download are from Russian sources and turn your game into cyrillic there's simple way to gte your menu back into English.Just open the data/k42/loc_rus/cd.Open the cd folder and remove the last line at the end of the list under tex_pack9 that should do the trick.Make sure you save the change before youe xit the file. Otherwise disneable ane re-enable you english pacth and put it at the end of all your mods/missions in the mods enabler(JSGME).

Re the Marder II if its a mod then it should go into your MODS folder and be enabled through your mods enabler. In any case just read carefully and follow the instructions or read me that come with the download.  The Kubelwagen mission was made by Lockie. I don' have it.Either PM Lockie on this forum for help or read the read me file that comes with his mission to make sure you haven't forgot to add a line or something.

There 's also the Tanksim.org.ru which is a precious source but it seems to be temporarily down.

Might become permanently down, if they don't get their act together,

Here's what I found:

"Expiry of tanksim.org.ru
tanksim.org.ru domain registration is suspended.

If the registrant fails to renew the domain, it will be released."

It happened twice in the past and twice the guy ,I think his name is Tanx, he is one of the modders, came to salvage his qwebsite.

Let's hope it happens again.

It's still down, by the way.

Well, Tanx has until 10th July to get things sorted out, before the domain name gets released
(and likely to get taken over by some porno portal  :( )

I can already see it: Tanktop.orgasm.ru running the new games: Steel Orgy and Blaze of Whore;D

Try the exciting brand new trunk stimulations instead of the old tank simulators :-*

Heads up everybody!

It seems that tanksim.org.ru survives at a different location:

Good work Kyth! My advice to all is download all the mods you might need in the future and save them in a folder on your pc so you won't get caught next time the site goes awhol. To paraphrase von Clausewitz if you want peace of mind prepare for war !

An interesting nugget of information from my web research:

It seems that the '.tk' in the domain name stands for Tokelau (a country I never suspected to exist  :))

I guess the domain registration fee is cheaper there?

If so, that's pretty ingenious. It wont let me download the mods though! like I was attempting to download the optics mod/winter mod when it kept going to the "Download link invalid" page

I downloaded that mod a while ago but never installed it.I have pretty much all the mods for SF going back to 2008.Let me check to see if I don't have it somewhere.I know I removed it from one of my installations not 2 weeks ago since A) I don"t use it and B) it 's only for Steel Panzer mod 1.4...Are you sure you still would want it????

Kyth; speking of Godzilla why don,t you invite him to join us on this forum? The SimHQ SF forum is so lethargic...At least here he would have a place to discover exciting things and interesting topics and people ;D

I am sure Godzilla comes in here from time to time.  :)

shoot I been found out  ;D

Guys I did some reworking of the SFK42 mediafire file site, tried to add brief discriptions to most mod files, would like to add authors names to their work but I lost my notes and am not sure who did what. I've deactivated some mods since they might be redundent for post SPM 1.4. If anyone would like to take a look for any errors or know the authors of the SFK42 mods I sure would appreciate the info, also if anyone would like to have their mods or missions hosted there I would be glad to add it.
Cheers

@frinik, still playing your missions you sent me and still getting my arse kicked royal, thanks again  :)

Hello Panzerfaust! (When I was young I used to watch those terrible B ( cardboard models and plastic toy passing of as special effects) Japanese films from the 60s featuring Godzilla or some kind of prehistoric monster that would come out of the sea or of a volcano and then would go rampaging and laying waste to Tokyo or some other city ;D)

Glad you enjoy them!I made some which are much easier and not so lopsided. You want them you tell me!

To win my combat stuff you need to change you handle to panzerschreck ;D

Cheers!
