Ah, that would seem to fulfill my need for a "Mini-modding for Dummies" requirement.

@ Redpig
By the way ,I got problem with the "tech_cfg" files ,I found it immposible to tweak the .ENGCFG files....I want to bring more APs,less HEs,but the total shells still the same amount....how to tweak the .ENGCFG files without errors?
It's very easy to change ( I suppose that's what you mean by tweaking?) the amount of shells in the tech_cfg files.
All you need to do is open the file with notepad:
go to the Shells entry(paragraph) and change the number say from 32 to 60 or whatever value you weant to use and save and exit.
Here's the entry for my Tiger I Shells paragraph as an example: It has 60 AP( AT) shells and 32 HE (sprengranate) ones as per historical data.
//áîåêîìïëåêò shells() { PZGR39_88K, 60, 0, 0; PZGR40_88K, 0, 0, 0; SPRGR_88K, 32, 0, 1;
SMK_MT, 12, 0, 3;
BUL_792, 5100; }
Will these changes affect every Tiger in every scenario after they are made in the tech.cfg?

As there are 4 different models of Tiger I, the vanilla one, the SS, the late Tiger I and the Soviet trophy you need to change each and every entry for each one....Likewise for the Panthers.

Is there a cap on the number of shells that each tank may carry?

No , no limits it's up to your imagination and the limitation of your math skills.... Just be realistic and bear in mind tanks were limited in space for the crew.

I like to follow the historic amounts. I just wonder if 60ap and 30he is possible. (EDIT)various web pages quote 92 shells but some crew were issued up to 100
Also, if I just wish to change the ammo amounts then I just need to modify this file and not the common res file. Is that correct?
What is the meaning of the strange text, full of accents and markings, that appears in each section of this file?

I've found that the Tiger also had the Granate 39 HL (shrapnel) shell available but that does not appear to be modeled in the game.

Hi Frinik, Please may I have those values and if I may, where do I put them Hi, I still have a previous compilation from Frinik, the link is here: http://graviteam.com/forum/index.php?topic=11277.msg33970#msg33970About the shell values, there's some discussion a few posts after that one, They're contained in the 'common_res.engcfg' file, in the 'shells()' section. @Frinik: Are these modifications of the files that you made still applicable with the current NTA mod?

I like to follow the historic amounts. The easiest way to do that - change appropriate set of shells in the mission. The config file for the tank is a base file. It does that we really don't care how many shells contains config file. For the each historic mission we can always write down the appropriate amount of the shells. Easy money I've found that the Tiger also had the Granate 39 HL (shrapnel) shell available but that does not appear to be modeled in the game. Could u enclose a proof link?

Well, here is where I read about it. I don't know what your standard of proof is. It certainly is not an official document signed by Albert Speer and Hans Guderian. http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/detail.asp?armor_id=72After searching here is a chart which shows the PZgr 39 HL and it's ballistics as used in the Tiger's L/56 gun. The source is quoted at the bottom. http://www.fprado.com/armorsite/tiger1-03.htm Accuracy: Gun 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 Ammunition Pzgr. 39 Pzgr. 40 Gr.39 HL Range 500 m 100 (100) 100 (100) 100 (98) 1000 m 100 (93) 99 (80) 94 (62) 1500 m 98 (74) 89 (52) 72 (34) 2000 m 87 (50) 71 (31) 52 (20) 2500 m 71 (31) 55 (19) 3000 m 53 (19) Source : JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; ISBN 0-7643-0225-6 Penetration: Gun 88 mm KwK 36 L/56 Ammunition Type Pzgr.39 Pzgr.40 Gr.39HL Shell Weight 10.2 Kg 7.3 Kg 7.65 Kg Initial Velocity 773 m/s 930 m/s 600 m/s Range 100 m 120 mm 170 mm 90 mm 500 m 110 mm 155 mm 90 mm 1000 m 100 mm 138 mm 90 mm 1500 m 91 mm 122 mm 90 mm 2000 m 84 mm 110 mm 90 mm Source : JENTZ, Thomas L.; Germany's TIGER Tanks - Tiger I and II: Combat Tactics; ISBN 0-7643-0225-6

Thanks for the link. It does that Tiger should receive additional type of the shell Gr.39 HLI'd like to suggest the next decision. In the base config tiger has "0" quantity of this shell type and in the appropriate mission we can add all necessary amount of the shells. The Gr.39 HL (Hohlgranate) based on the hollow charge principle (HEAT), was less accurate and much less destructive than the APCBC rounds, but could be carried in place of the HE rounds and used either to combat armor or as effective high explosive ammunition against soft targets.

Would you have to "make" a whole new shell for the game? How would you make it approximate the damage it can do against armor and troops?

Would you have to "make" a whole new shell for the game? I think it's possible to make a new icon and change a texture for the common AP shell. How would you make it approximate the damage it can do against armor and troops? I'm pretty sure that our SF master 19will73 will get over this question Then let's see in the mission/fireground how the new shell Gr.39HL does.

Right now what we have as Sprenggranate for the Tiger one is high velocity one, 810m/s, which seems a tad too powerful especially compared to the one used by the Tiger II.
