Title: Routing..annoying
Post by: wodin on March 23, 2016, 02:21:53 PM
I had a Marder platoon rout. All because I set it up furthe rback in defense and the enemy had move dinto the square they had been. However they hadn't even been shot at ..infact I had no casualties in the battle. Yet because I ahd deployed them furthe rback and the enemy had move dinto the square they ahd been they ahd routed. This is very annoying. I'm always worrying if I've lost a unit because of this. other time sit happens if you advance them during a defensive battle. They cna then be "routed" as they are to far forward.

Can this please be looked at it was the same with GTOS.

I hadn't lost a platoon through otu the Operation..except this one..which wasn't my fault and should have still been on the field towards the end.

Well the land they where defending was taken.  So on the OP map they got to go somewhere.  They got out maneuvered.  But they are not dead, in a few turns they will be back in action.

This happens from time to time to me, probably to everyone.  But you are not there to defend your ground you certainly do not hold that ground.  Moving units to other more important places in a battle is a logical thing to do. In the last 15 minutes of battle time you can always drive a platoon of armored vehicles back to the start place.  If it is a low important square, often the AI will take it and bugger off for someplace more valuable.  If it is an important high value spot, the AI will often stick around to hold it in some form.  But it is always better to hold the more important places while keeping important units alive then get guys killed over a largely worthless bit of land.  Better a rout than get them killed for something not vary important.
