Title: Need help getting missions to show up
Post by: Tanker on March 24, 2012, 01:19:47 AM
I've tried to follow the directions to get some missions to show up but I've not had good luck.  So I thought I show some pictures here and ask for advice.
First I will say that I downloaded Kyth's Campaign and unzipped it to the mod folder, and then enabled it in jsgme.  I never had to add any lines to the camp folder.  It was already in there after I enabled it.  Kyth's Campaign "Not All Quiet on the Eastern Front" showed up and played without a problem.  So far so good.

Now I've downloaded Rend's Prokhorovka Campaign to the mod folder.  I enabled with jsgme.

Following Rend's instructions I put 2 lines (red lines) in the camp_list folder after the werm stug line.

The problem is that the campaign does not show up in the in game list of missions.

I know it's operator error but I can't figure it out.

I think it's because the 'Ultimate Update' has some campaign entry lines added in by default, even before the actual campaigns have been installed.  :o

In the case above, delete the lines marked in blue, since they're clearly not linking to the correct config file.

I see you're enjoying such classics as "The Big Uglies" and "Hedgehog at Potatopov".  :) Good call!

I eliminated those lines but the campaign still won't show up.

Tanker, it seems that Rends had the same problem with hsi own missions .Here's what he did below:

I had the campaign not showing in the campaign list problem too. even if all files and entries were there it didn´t show up.
If i remember right it was my Prokhorovka campaign.

What i found out that in the camp_list if i hit enter after the Prokho campaign entry and saved the file it did show up again in the campaign list ingame.

Rends

I remember ahving the same problem with his Barbarossa campaign.I created a new folder aside form the camp one which I called Rends barabarossa and it worked.

That could be it, some of the lines might contain non-text characters, making the entries unrecognizable to the game.

I wonder if he means to leave an empty line after the Prokho campaign entry?
Nope, leaving an open line after the Prokho campaign entry did not make it appear either.  Oh well, there's always other missions to try. :)

If that doesn't work, try eliminating all the 'tabs' and spaces from each line.

Including all the leading and trailing spaces in each campaign line.

Tanker do you have a cm_prokho folder when you open your LEVELS folder in your game main data folder?

Might I suggest some other classics like "Hell's Mud-way" and "Quietly Flows the Blub".   ;)

No there wasn't an empty line necessary .
I need to mention that i had this problem after ultimate update.
Hope you get it fixed soon.

Guys I have a hunch on what might be causing the problems with Rends missions. Besides the entry marked in blue by Tanker, there is that SPM 1.5 mission NTA 1.3_mission pack entry that I mentioned in another thread. This was the text line I deleted and Rends Prokho missions played fine after that. Where did this text entry come from? Is it installed from SPM 1.5 UU? If not, did Tanker have the mission pack 1C installed before and like me he just forgot to delete the text line when he uninstalled the mission pack? At first when I saw his screen capture of his camp_list file I figured "Great! I just deleted a text line I really need and it wasn't in there by mistake!". But the only missions I could reason this line would be needed for is with the SPM 1.5UU Combat Episodes missions. But I just checked them (partially played each mission) and they are working fine without that text line  ??? So where exactly did this line come from? Is it needed? Is it causing the problems with Rends missions? I can say for certain when I did originally have the mission 1c mod installed before SPM 1.5UU it did the same thing with Rends missions.
Cheers,

No I don't have the cm_prokho folder in my LEVELS folder.  But then again KythCampaign doesn't show there either if that matters.

Panzerfaust. I don't think I ever had NTA 1.3 installed.  The 2 lines marked in blue were there after I downloaded Rend's Prokho mission, placed it in the mods folder and enabled it with jsgme.  I can't swear they were not there beforehand, but it seems unlikely.  A similar thing happened with Kyth's Campaign.  Kyth specifies what lines must be added but after enabling the mod, they were in the camp_list folder already, as shown above.  Mysterious.

It's not really a mystery, the 'Ultimate Update" version of the camp_list file already had those lines in there by default. Probably an error.

And isn't or was the Prokho campaign not part of the mission pack?
Can't check that yet

Tanker can you reinstall the Prokhorovka campaign and check if it works?
If not can you add // in front of the missionpack camp entry so it is temporarely disabled and check again?

Rends Prokho missions were included in Pack Mission 1.0c :) Plus, there was one mission for T-70 ;)

No, they aren't there Kyth.  That might explain a lot.
I'm not sure how they are supposed to get there though.  I just put the mod in the mod folder, enable it and ensure the correct lines are in the camp_list correct?

Locky, if it's still in the pack what went wrong?
Why did the ultimate camplist entries differ from the original ones while all others stay untouched?
If someone don't see the campaign after ultimate update and enable the seperate Prokho capaign through JSGME it result in chaos?
I realy would like to help tanker but it seems i can't.

I don't have any ideas. As u know, there were no any complaints until UU released. At this moment mission pack was d/l 453 times.

I didn't compile UU, sorry can't answer your question.

Ah I think I see what might be going on, maybe. I remember awhile back I tried to use the Mission Pack 1c with Rends original Prokho Missions still activated and it was a bust for me. I now recall that I was having the same problem in that Rends original Prokho missions disappeared from the mission select UI with the Mission Pack 1c activated. So if the camp_list text refering to SPM 1.3 Mission Pack 1c isn't needed (if you don't have the Mission Pack 1c activated) it can be deleted with no ill effects. Also if the camp_list text for Rends Prokho missions has been changed by SPM 1.5UU as Rends is saying (didn't notice, my bad) then deleting the SPM 1.5 UU camp_list Prokho entry and pasting Rends orginal camp_list entry back in the camp_list should solve the problem some might be having, this is what I did and it worked for me.
Cheers

So if the camp_list text refering to SPM 1.3 Mission Pack 1c
Did u mean SPM 1.5?
Personally, I think that Pack Mission 1.0c is not compatible with UU.

I tried that with no luck.  I also did not get his missions to show up in my LEVELS folder.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help me solve this problem.  I'm learning a lot along the way.

Does anyone have any recommendations for scenarios, campaigns that are known to be compatible with 1.5 UU?

Tanker,

That normally works fine, but you'll need to make sure that the mod isn't buried in a "double" folder or something similar. There's a clearer explanation in the JSGME user guide, on page 7:

http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/documentation/JSGMEUG.pdf (http://www.users.on.net/~jscones/software/documentation/JSGMEUG.pdf)

Take a look at the MODS folder, and check if the "Rends_Prokhorovka_Version1" Mod replicates the game's data folder structure properly. Probably something that's not right,

Your problem sounds different from Rends and Panzerfaust problem, which is a double install problem.

Tanker when I have that problem I try é things which work for me:

1) I disenable and then re-enable the mod in the JSGME the launch the gameSometimes it's enough to make the mod appaear in my game

2) in extreme cases I paste a copy of the mod both in the mods folder and in the game folder the one yoyu get when you open your install folder

Another thought ; open your MODs and check to see if there isn't another MODs sub folder inside. It happened once to me that there was one and when I was extracting mods they would go straight into that one instead of the main one.

Look at this screen capture of Tanker camp_list, look at the last two entries, this is what I'm refering too since it was in my camp_list also.

Sorry I have to disagree Kyth, my Rends Prokho missions were fine till I installed SPM 1.5UU. I'm positive of that since I played them with SPM 1.5 Beta quite a bit and had no problems. Somehow the problem arose between activating SPM 1.5 UU and the Winter Beta Mod III as those were my last 2 mod activations. When I played SFK42 after the SPM 1.5UU install I don't recall 100% if Rends Prokho missions were in the mission list UI, but after I installed the Winter Beta III thats when I noticed they were missing (since I really wanted to try Rends missions in the snow). I'm off to do some tinkering  ;)

Exactly the camp_list text for the SPM1.5 NTA 1.3 is indeed a red herring, but here's what I found out. Now this problem maybe happening for anyone who had Rends Prokho missions installed before SPM 1.5UU, I don't know. But when I deactivated SPM 1.5UU and reactivated SPM 1.5UU not only did Rends Proho missions go missing again but it did change the camp_list text for Rends Prokho missions that I had copy/pasted from Rends readme earlier. Before reactivating SPM 1.5UU it was this:
camp\prokho_camp.engcfg......
camp\prokhower_camp.engcfg.....
After reactivating SPM 1.5UU it changed to this:
camp\main_camp.engcfg,prokho.....
camp\main_camp.engcfg,prokhower....
All I did was delete the main_camp.engcfg part, saved, went back into SFK42 and Rends Prokho missions were back and working. Weird huh  ???
Cheers

P.S. Activated the Winter Beta Mod III after all of this and it changed nothing in the camp_list

We share SPMod1.5Beta and Unofficial patch SF 0.1 eng.  We have differing versions of the UU and I have a UU patch.  Does the SPM1.5UU 1.1(ENG) do the same thing that my 2 related files do?

How do I ensure that the formatting of my camp_list file is correct?  I've added and removed spaces from the 2 lines for Rends missions but the columns and spacing looks different from the ss that Kyth posted.

I suppose I could just delete those 2 lines and copy and paste them back in from the readme that came from the mod download.

Kyth, Frinik:  I checked the Mods folder structure and I have no "nested" folders there.  I have the same structure for Rends Prokho. as I have for Kyths missions (which work and show up).

@Kyth, I notice differences in our activated mods.

I have                                                                                    You have
SPMod1.5Beta                                                                         SPMod1.5beta
SPM1.5UU                                                                               SPM1.5UU1.1(Eng)
SPM1.5UU Patch                                                                      Unofficial patch SF 0.1 eng
Unofficial patch SF 0.1 eng

SPM 1.5UU 1.1 (ENG) is the English-translated version. I haven't tried the UU Patch yet.

Don't worry about trying to replicate the spacing. It's the campaign list, straight from 'Ultimate Update'. Just change the 2 red lines.
Use Notepad, not some other editor that might add in extra formatting. You only need to use 'backspace', 'delete' and the letter keys to edit the lines.

After you edit the campaign list, I'd suggest trying the following things:

- Deactivate Prokhorovka with JSGME.
- Activate Prokhorovka with JSGME. Do not access the mod folder while this is going on.
- If it still doesn't work, please post the screenshot of the Prokhorovka mod folder.

I did as you suggested with no luck.

What part of the Prokho mod folder should I show?

Try to show the folders, up to here:

ps. I'm starting to think it's that old classic problem with Windows 7:
Install in Program Files folder = Big Trouble!

Yes it's in the Program Files(386) folder but your missions show up ok.  I could try running the game as admin to see if that makes any difference.

I've entered a whole new realm of Win 7 weirdness.  If I start the game without saying run as admin, I keep my settings and I see Kyth's missions.  If I run the game as admin, my settings (sound, music etc) are stock, I don't have Kyth's missions listed now but I do see WM_01_Stanovoe to WM_10_Perekopovka listed in the User Missions on the in game screen.
I don't recognize those missions.

It's like I'm running 2 separate games when I run it as admin.  Perhaps I could copy the game folder and move to another directory on C or delete and reinstall it on another directory.

It's worth a try, but I guess your best bet is to have the game installed in a different folder (anywhere else, other than Program Files).

I added some more info in an edit to my post above.

Kyth, is the UU1.1(eng) the same thing as the 1.5UU, except for the english translation?

Tanker,

You really should unisntall Steel Fury and then install it in other folder...

If you keep it installed in the Program Files folder you will keep having problems in the future...

I think UU1.1(Eng) is the English translation of UU1.0.

It's a good idea to have the English version, if you're unable to read Russian  :)

Txema: Done.  I'll try to remember this for the next game I install.

Kyth: Come to find out it's called 1.5 UU in jsgme but it really is the English one.  Not sure why it's labeled differently.

After reinstalling the game outside of Program Files I reinstalled Rend's Prokhorovka.  I get a series of missions from WM_01_Stanoveoe to WM_10 Perekpovka in the User Missions list.  They have no briefings and the player tank is the only unit on the map.  This is starting to remind me of modding Arma before the advent of the automatic mod enablers like 6updater.

They are the 10 new maps ready for user-made missions.????Best advice partition your pc if  it's not already done and make a new installation of SF there.

I'm very pleased to report after much fiddling and cutting and pasting I succeeded in getting Rends Prokho campaign to show up in my Campaigns list!
I really have no idea of how I did it other than deleting the mod, reinstalling and carefully cutting and pasting the appropriate lines.  Oh, I also loaded the mod second after SPM 1.5 beta in the jsgme.  That was something I did not do the first time round.

Thanks for your patient help to all those involved in helping me solve this.  Rend, I'm looking forward to the campaign.
