Title: WW2 situational maps
Post by: topnik on April 09, 2014, 01:49:46 PM
If anyone's interested, I found this site with lots of original maps, pics and other documents.

What I find especially interesting are German daily situational maps, covering almost all fronts. Here is just a small detail from one such map, of area around Kharkov on 16th Feb 1943.

Topnik,

If your interested in the battles in and around Kharkov during Jan.-Mar. 1943 I would take a look at this book "Last Victory in Russia" by George M. Nipes.

He also wrote a very good book about the Mius river battles that to me is more must reading once the next game by Graviteam is released."Decision in the Ukraine " George M Nipe.

Thanks!
I believe the other book from the same author is "Decision in Ukraine", covering battles of summer 43.

Yes;
I just added that above.
Couldn't recall the name while I was responding. :D

Nipe is considered in some circles to be an SS fanboi, but I find his work to be well documented and a very informative read.

I know the feeling.

I've heard the same, but the books seem to be very much worth reading, since they are apparently based on original documents.
