Fascinating! Is that your model?

Thanks! This model was made by Maleshkin. I'm only working vs a process to put the model in the game and make a life to this baby :) To say the truth, it's a big painass, at least for me  ;D

Good luck with the tracks  :) May be something in the tech_cfg file,

Well there were pics on the Sukhoi.ru forum of a Luchs with a very small body and huge tracks and a life-size driver on top of it.Yoiu can see it on the coll screenshots thread. It seems ot be a similar bug.But let´s the bright side at least a tank that won´t drown in a lake or river ;D

Exactly and not only vs a tracks :) I just simply took config from the panther by Mikhayl to see the result as faster as possible.

Dumb question but why didn't you use the tracks from the existing KV-1 in the game?

why didn't you use the tracks from the existing KV-1 in the game?
I did at first, but after a many times of failed attempts... long story :)
Anyway, I'll try to finish the work suppose in a couple of weeks.

ps
Would be interested to prepare a new tank vs a new mission. Personally, I'd like to see the mission such as "Kolobanov's feat of arms".
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zinoviy_Kolobanov
22 German tanks and two towed artillery pieces fell victim to Kolobanov's No. 864 before it ran out of ammunition.

Wasnèt it in the Leningrad area that he accomplished his feat during the summer of 1941? And was posthumously awarded the order of the hero of the Soviet Union?

Mind you thereÈs already a mission very similar the KV-1 Gusarovka mission in which 2 Kvs face over 19 German tanks and APCs and a mass of infantry as well.

For such a mission you would need a fairly easily defendable hill like the Village on the hill in the Glub Dolina map or the Taranovka hill village .Fron these heights you can shoot enemy tanks at failry long range and make possilbe to recreate Leutenant(?)Kolobanov s feat of arm....

Suppose, yes. And he had KV-1e.

Quote
And was posthumously awarded the order of the hero of the Soviet Union?
Nope. He forced as a traitor or smth, cause he had a friendship vs a finland soldiers. Oh, take my breath away.

YEP, Gusarovka - it's a magic name. So, do we have a reason - don't make a mission cause we got a similar? Take a pick, there's a completely new tank.

Yes. Do they know it's a Christmas? ;)

Most were Panzer IICs but there were a couple of Panzer III with the 37 mm gun and may be a few PanzerIVF1????

Well we can always make one more challenging and add Panzer IIIJs and replace the Panzer IICs with Luchs ;D

Title: New KV-1E
Post by: Kyth on April 27, 2011, 06:34:49 AM
It would be more of a challenge to play as one of those tin-can Panzer II or III  :)

Did you know the short-gun Panzer III is already playable? Since SPM 1.4. It's just that those wise Steel Panzer folks didn't include it in the Mission Editor.

A bit of tinkering later, I got them running around under my command. They are more authentic for early-war scenarios  ;D

I think 38(t) also were in column. The challenging could be adjusted by the balance.

The quality of German trash (tin-cans) wasn't a problem of Soviet troops neither Kolobanov's tank  ;D
It was in a real, it was a fact. Personally, I think 22 tanks(PzII, PzIII, 38(t)) against one KV-1e(add armor) it's a mission impossible according to SF game. That's why it's interesting for me to see how such mission does in SF ;)

It's definitely not mission impossible.I played the Gusarovka mission quite a few times and won 7 out of 10.My best results was 19 Germans tanks,APCs and trucks destroyed and 137 infantry wiped out.I lost my fellow KV1 early on and the 2 anti tank guns as well.Good positioning is very important in the game.Plua in the misisons they don't set the experience factor at more than 20% for any given unit in the ME.I checked.

It just doesn't sound like much of a challenge to have 5 KV1-e's clobber a bunch of tin-cans stuck in a marsh  ;D Mission impossible? I really don't think so,

The real challenge would be to take one of those Panzer II or 38(t) and emerge triumphant.  :)

OK, to resolve the truth (region SF), would be great to create those mission and have a look.
And there should be only one small path(where german tin-cans goes), near it suppose to be located the swamp/mire.

This map is interesting! Think it'll suit to the aim of mission.

Yes it does, but I don't see the mission over at this one.  w02_r_oskol map is more interested, imho.

Oh lovely work Lockie! It's going to be our Lockie day!!!

Is it the Ekranye type with applique armour on the sides of the turret?

Title: New KV-1E

Is it the Ekranye type with applique armour on the sides of the turret?
No, as I've understood additional armor and the whole armor of turret will be the one part vs the same armor strength.

Title: New KV-1E
Post by: frinik on May 06, 2011, 01:46:57 PM
Meaning the new KV1e model will not have a stronger armour thickness in the tech_cfg file?

Title: New KV-1E
Post by: lockie on May 06, 2011, 02:43:20 PM
Perhaps, *.cfg file will be slightly adjusted as for armor. Mainly it's provided by armor map.

Any idea when that new KV will be available?

The Avia forum has been eeringly quiet for a while now ???

Well, at this moment I don't know, because I got another glitch - AI doesn't want to shoot, actually he wants, but can't :D

Something missing in the common res file?  Did you check the " weapons " line of your model in the com res with the one for the KV in the game to see if they are similar?

I assume the gun works when the player uses it?

Sounds like something in the tech_cfg file - all the weapons have to be assigned to one of the 'workplaces' in the weapons() section, and they're grouped under 'firing positions' in the heads() section.

Also, if the tech_cfg file is copied from the existing KV1 file, all those 3D 'chunk' names should exist on the new model,

Just a suggestion  ;D

Title: New KV-1E
Post by: lockie on May 08, 2011, 07:59:12 AM
I resolved the problem partly. The point was in absence of modificator "Reset X-form" for the model in 3d max. Now, gunner and mgunner has an ability to shoot, but commander (I gave him PPSh) and loader (rear MG) still puzzled.

Title: New KV-1E
Post by: norm on May 08, 2011, 01:29:27 PM
wait, does the commander have firing ports, or will he fire from his hatch?

Title: New KV-1E
Post by: lockie on May 08, 2011, 05:32:59 PM
does the commander have firing ports
Yep, there are two holes in KV head, which provides shooting, in fact from revolver.(U may try at KV-1 and SU-85 in the game) So, now all members of crew, except commander, can shoot. The last thing is armor map.
One funny picture as for modificator "reset x-form" :)

As my point it's impossible. I'm completely dumb in 3d max :(

For what game was it made????? ???
It's just a high polygons model, which every1 can use under their point. This model definitely doesn't suit to SF, but if some1 decrease the quantity of polygons and remove all unnecessary details there'll be a chance to put the model in the game, I think.

Would it be terribly difficult to create a KV85 using the KV's chassis?
It won't be easy, because turret is completely different and besides KV's chassis from SF isn't the best choice, because it has over 20 mistakes and incorrect elements in the model. That's why I put a new KV in the game (screenshots above).

What for? Without model or texture you won't tell where's front and where's rear. And I won't upload model and texture here.  If you want I can send it by email.

Are you planning to introduce your new KV model to replace the existing one in SF?
It's already in game, but it's based on game-ripped model, and I still didn't receive permission to use it. So I'm afraid it wont be in next SPM release, only in separate vehicle pack, which i will ask not to throw around internet too much. :)

Cool. :) I'm testing some (based on in-game polygons) missions too, one of which is where panzergrenadiers and 9 attacking King tigers are destroyed by fire of about 6 tanks and 8 AT-guns.  ;D
