May be download not a current patch, but previous.
Download patch from GamersGate, unpack, click on update tool, select patch description file, click Ok, wait, click save&play.

Hello,

Just recently got the game. Having real problems with the patches though.

When I start the game, it says Version 5.75 (1379).

I have downloaded the Feb12 and Taranovka patches from Gamersgate. I saved these into a folder I created in the C drive (which I called "operation star"), which is where all the other game files are.

Once downloaded, I extracted both of these files. They extracted successfully as .exe (description 7s SFX) files. When I open the game updater window, there is nothing there to select.

I read the instruction "read me" text...

1) Unpack update to any folder.
2) Install game core update 5.77 for this run op_star_game_update_eng_v577.exe.
3) In the window that appears, click "Install" button and select "CORE\desc.addpack" file
   in folder with unpacked update.
4) Wait for the installation.
5) Click "Save and Play" button.

But to be honest, I have no idea of how to follow that -in step 2, no "window opens". Could anyone explain this a IN REALLY SIMPLE step by stepway? (sorry - I am not the brightest when it comes to computers) I am using Windows 7, if this makes any difference.

Actually, please disregard that previous post - got it working (at last!). As suspected, it was that stupid administrator rights / block potentially unsafe programs stuff that Windows 7 is so very fond of which was causing the problem...

One final patch question though..

Having got the game updated to V5.77 (1420) feb.12, I was thinking about using the Taranovka patch now - would it be OK to do it in this order - i.e. would applying the Taranovka patch AFTER the feb.12 patch mean I am danger of actually rolling back some of the changes I have just made?

Hope that makes sense.

I think no. Maybe in the new DLC.

But I think it´s possible to use them in the quick mission builder.

The game is much improved since the patch.
Ive just noticed something though.
Before the patch the Russian ammo had green tracer, and the German red. Nice and easy to figure out who was shooting at who, especially at night. But now the German MG's fire with both red and green tracer, and so do some Russians.
Now i cant tell who's firing!!!
Is it suppose to be like that?

German and Russian 7.62/7.92 mm bullets has red tracers.
SmkS bullets has green.

Once again, a new patch and I don't understand how to install it.

I downloaded the patch from here, and I hope it is the same as the patch at Gamersgate:

So I download and run it, where it installs to a new folder.  I start up APOS and try to use the update screen.  When I try to install the new patch I get this:


On so many levels this message is confusing.  I really don't know where to begin to understand what this message is telling me to do to "remove the update."

What am I doing wrong here?

Can someone who has successfully installed the latest update explain how this is achieved?

To make matters worse, the quick battles no longer work and I get "" in the main menu:

Yes MG34 used regular 7.92 bullets (with red tracers) and SmKs ones (with green tracers)

Download patch from GG. Install, for this message click Ok (you don't have another variants). Wait, updater automatically will be remove old patch and install new. Than click Save&play.

Yes of course. It's a very cheap step at all - select one file and click two buttons

May be patch is broken when download?
Try remove (or disable) any other updates.

I did get it working, and the patch I downloaded was good from:

I believe my mistake was telling the self-extracting ZIP file to extract to a different folder than it was already in, but at least it is working now.
