Hi folks,

Well here it is after weeks of work, two mods for the price of none Smiley. Hope you enjoy using the mods, readme files included in the dowload, please leave me some feedback on Graviteam or SimHQ forums.

IMPORTANT: If you are installing BOTH mods then install activate the SdkFZ251 mod before activating the German Personnel Equipment Mod and let JSGME overwrite any files.

Let me suggest something:
Could you please update it to make it compatible with the latest "SPM1.5_ultimate_update_patch_(v.June 9th ENG).exe" ?

Nice,
one question.
In the images above it looks like the inside of the german helmets are invisible means the polygons are one sided?

Hi mate,

I'll check but they have an inside in the modelling prog, I did have an issue with normals and the model need some odd orientation to get ot to display right in the game.

Actually I'm seriously considering hanging up my "modding" shoes for good. I've been at it in one shape or form for many years now and the ratio between fun and long hours and hard work has increasingly fallen over recent years to a level which I'm not sure if I can justify or sustain.

So, after I've tweeked my latest mods according to demand I think this will be my "swan song". It has been quite a few years since I've actually enjoyed playing computer games and, without the modding interest to give me another angle on things, I think it's maybe a good time to find another enjoyable passtime.  Over the years I've put thousands of hours into modding, learned many new skills and the usage of many software packages and, to a degree, computer programming and having to get my head round some very strange coding behavior etc. and, on the whole, it has been a very worthwhile and interesting adventure but I'm getting tired now.

If I was doing it for a living then that would be a different story but, sadly, "you can't have your cake and eat it" as the saying goes. Sad. I'm also not sure that putting hundreds of hours of work into a mod which will never get more than a relative handful of downloads is personally justifyable in the long term. The interest on this forum is limited to a few folks and elsewhere it is virtually non-existant. It was a totally different situation when I was, for example, producing mods for IL-2 or SH 3 and even BoB II but SF is a very niche product to say the least which, IMO, is a great shame as it it a very good game.

Cheers

Aces,

I am very sorry to hear that but of course I do understand your reasons.

I can only say that I do appreciate very much the excellent work that you have done for Steel Fury. Thank you !!

Thanks mate,

It has been my pleasure or maybe a "labour of love" Smiley. I've gotten to a stage now I think when modding is quite tiring and stresful rather than a relaxing activity. It is like a drug though, every time I try and give it up I always end up doing something else. Ever since I lost my interest in actually playing games some of the zip has long since dissapeared. I bought a new HOTAS setup recently after mine broke about 18 months ago but, such is my resetless feeling about gaming I've not had the urge to plug it in and fire it up yet, every time I think about it I think "nah I can't be bothered" but I did actually get it out of the packaging the other evening!, whereas once I'd have programmed all my profiles by now and been using it. Every time I fire up a game I'm bored and restless within a few minutes.

Cheers

Well Aces it's sad to hear thta a dedicated modder like you is considering hanging his boxing gloves and retiring.Good modders are hard to find and those who are both good and dedicated as you are , even rarer!

Sad also that you have lost the fire to play games. It's like being a great cook and not enjoying eating or beign a great actor and hating cinema!

Hope you change your mind on both counts!

Cheers!

Hi mate,

Thanks for the thoughts. I don't know why but my interest in gaming and thus my enjoyment of them started to wane quite a few years ago, maybe it is an age thing as I turned 50 a few years back. Most likely it is because I'm simply bored with them, one waits such a long time for a half-decent game to come along and many I have installed in my preferred genre such as Red Orchestra, Red Orchestra 2, Silent Hunter 5 and Cliffs of Dover have failed to grasp or maintain my interest very long for a number of reasons. I don't enjoy online gaming and offline games with a decent campaign/immersion are very few and far between IMO. I've also lost the desire to set everything up like before, so many key shortcuts etc. etc.. I think that many years ago gaming was the main interest then modding and gaming became equaly important to me and then my main interest became modding and then modding became my sole interest and now I think that there's little left that I want to do. On a brighter note I'm not saying that something or some idea might not come along that'll fire up my imagination, I hope so.

All the best,

Cheers

Have you tried Graviteam 's RTS?Like APOS, Achtung Panzer or the new SABoW which is a hybrid of sim/RTS.You might find some interest in them?

As for the age - believe or not -  I started gaming at 46 and playing online (BF3) at 55.I am 56 and looking forward to playing more games with SABoW, Iron Front Liberation 1944, RO2, Arma III high on my list.

Hi  mate,

Thanks for the sugestions, I have APOS and the add-ons as well as the original Achtung Panzer, I've not really played them very much. Been watching Iron Front for some time but not sure if it is going to much of an offline game althought it does look good graphically.

Cheers mate

Iron Front is mostly MP but there's a SP campaign and a mission editor which allows you to make your own SP battles or missions.May be even an instant battle generator( not sure).

Thanks for the heads up mate,  I just bought Iron Front from Steam, worth £20 to see what it is like, downloading now.

Actualy I just checked my Gamefront and Mediafire stats and, between them, 50 downloads isn't too disapointing a figure really, assuming of course that they are different people and not the same person with 50 copies Smiley.

Cheers

Oh gnat you found me Aces!!!! Embarrassed  I downloaded your mod 50 times trying to cheer you up!!!!!

Just kidding. Remember there are about 50 hardcore SF players on this forum and many, many more casuals who check the forum only once in a while.Give it a month or so and you'll see that you have well over 200 downloads

LOL mate Cheesy,

I only had time to try Iron Front for a few minutes last night before bed. It looks okay, probably the sort of game I'll get bored with quite fast but it would be unfair of me to pass judgement without spending a bit more time on it. It was interesting to see my games listed on Steam alongside how many hours I've spent playing them. Of the half a dozen or so games in the lsit the combined time must only have been about 3 or 4 hours!.

Cheers

Aces

Edit. Something that I put together for ammusement this morning, it is a torn.fu.2d radio transceiver. No antenna or top/side plate detail as yet but the front and back panels inc. 3d instuments, knobs and dials are pretty finished:
