Hi chaps, Please see below: 4 vehicles from the same platoon. At the moment I haven't altered the model eg. differnet arrangements of stowage between vehicles but each has a slightly different skin, namely different number plates and an air-recon flag on one of the vehicles. I will change the stowage and markings slightly between vehicles in the near future. It is early days but hopefuly it'll serve as a proof of concept demonstrator. Cheers Aces

Awesome! Is this purely random, or is it controllable. I've often wished that you could have late and early war skins both installed and active, and have the vehicle spawn in a late war skin in a late war mission, and vicea versa.

That involves editing not only the "random" files, but you'd need to go back and edit every single mission for it to work. In short, that's a ton of work

Hi chaps,
You don't have to re-write every mission if you apply this to existing units. Yes, the common.units file does have to be edited and there's varying amounts of work to be undertaken depending on how far you want to go. Taken to it's extreme and applied to ALL units then there is a good bit of work to be done. For example, you can use this method to various degrees eg. at its simplest then it could be applied to producing four slightly different skins to vehicles in the same unit to give a bit of variety. Taken further then the same unit could contain slightly different vehicles as well as skins in which case then the models themselves would need some editing or it could be done via add-ons (eg. stowage items) for exisiting models without editing the model.
I simply put the idea forward that's all!, I might produce a new version of my sdkfz 251/1 mod with four different skin details and external stowage arrangements if there's any enthusiam for the idea else I'll leave it to anyone that's interested in developing the idea in which case I'll post my methodology then anyone interested in and capable of doing it for themselves can do so.
Regards
Aces

Hi mate,
I think the idea has lots of potential. I made good progress over the weekend and now have a platoon of four sdkfz251s each with different stowage items/arrangement and skins.
Cheers

Hi,
About the markings and vehicle number plates. It's not necessary to create new skins for those, just create new markings in the 'marks' dds files.
Especially for vehicle number plates - they could be set up like the Soviet tank slogans in the 'Spec' file, each one to appear just once, in each mission.

Okay, thanks for the encouragement chaps, I'll proceed with this. I really enjoy experimental stuff and exploring new possibilities so this is "right up my street" as they say here . Will report back with some screenshots and news ASAP. Cheers Aces
