Installation question

Hello group,

I'm new to SFK, but already loving it.  Needing a little help.  I've reviewed a number of threads about the SPM1.5 install.  At present, no matter what I do, I cannot get the menu to read English (after the SPM1.5 beta install).

I've tried putting the unofficial SF v0.1 patch first, and then even last.

I've used this order, with no such luck:

1). Unofficial Patch SF v0.1 (ENG)
2). SPM 1.5 Beta
3). SPM 1.5 Ultimate Update
4). Nov 2012 NTA v1.1
5). fix_05
5). Mission Pack v2.0

I always get the menu options in Russian.

also tried the \data\k42\loc_rus\cd  and renamed/removed the texts_loc.  Still no luck.  It always brings up the menu in Russian, once I add the SPM 1.5 beta package.

I've also uninstalled SFK completely, and reinstalled, and attempted to follow the install sequence.  No such luck.  I still get the Russian text.

I'm currently running SPM1.4, because no issue with getting the English text.

All right I found the soplution.Go to your game main folder: open the data folder then k42, then loc_rus then the text folder.Open the text folder.Inside you'll find the loc_kit.txt sub folder.Open it with notepad and simply change the first entry on the top left line from loc_rus to loc_eng and save.Then start your game and the menu will be in English.

Please substitute the mod number 2: "SPM 1.5 Ultimate Update" by its English version:

"SPM1.5_ultimate_update_v1.1(ENG)"

Awesome! this worked for the main menu.   Now, when I go into the campaign and sub menu's, they're still in Russian.  But we'll work through that.  A little late tonight right now, (in the USA), but I'll continue to troubleshoot later in the morning.

Hi Txema,

I tried that file, and I still see Russian text in the mission menu's.  Here's what I have installed:

once I enter the game, the main menu is English, but all of the sub menu's are Russian.  Note, I only saw the English menu change after making the modification that was stated in the message listed by frinik.

Please, install just these mods in the given order:

1). Unofficial Patch SF v0.1 (ENG)
2). SPM 1.5 Beta
3). SPM1.5_ultimate_update_v1.1(ENG)
4). Nov 2012 NTA v1.1
5). fix_05
5). Mission Pack v2.0

If you install them properly you should get everything in English... If you have things in Russian it is because you have not installed them properly and you should check the folder structure of all the mods under the MODS folder...

thanks for the info and help.  I'm now have English menus, and the campaign/missions are a mix of English and Russian, but that's ok.

I now understand what you mean by the double folders.  At least three of the mods had been nested within a second folder, that had the same name as the parent folder.  When I moved the datasets up one level, that helped!
