The game will have Russians in it..unlikely Graviteam will make a game with no Russians..I really don't think it will be in Africa or South Africa.

Fine its Nomagahan insident......    Small vicious critter attacks what it think is easy snack.......then gets counter attacked in massive force.

And soviets where only attacked by German (and allies) Japan.  No one else ever did.  Unless the 20's count with the white Russians and foreign help.

I always thought the Bear symbolizes the Soviets
Bear is Russian Empire, may be early USSR before WWII.

and the Lion- Great Britian,
In 19 century or early 20 Smiley
In mid 20+ century GB is sea lion, not lion itself, sorry.

and the United States has the bald eagle.
Here agree, but in my pictures are no birds Smiley

P.S. I understand that "animal" stereotypes are strong, but we must look essentially as it was.

Flashburn here is a link to the Leaveworth Papers combat study on the Nomanhan battle if you don't already have it.

The leavenworth papers are very  good combat case studies and I just started reading the Naktong battles in Korea 1950 which is very good and think would also make a decent future DLC for this game.Lots of detail in those studies.

I always thought of Great Britian more as the Bulldog than the Lion myself.

As far as Russia being the Lion that's fine with me I thought they they prefered the Bear.I see that symbol on some of their tanks in photos.

I agree, it's a good analogy.

It is still the Russian Empire. Now it is rather comical analogy Smiley.

Yep Flashburn,

The Americans sent an expeditionary unit to Russia after WW1 called the Polar Bear Division. It was made up mainly of men from Michigan mostly the Detroit area where I grew up.

I remember as a boy that the veterans of that division would have a parade that started from the memorial for them near the river and they would march down to the river and strip down to their bathing suits and wade into the river.November 11th in Detroit is usually very cold so I'm sure it was very uncomfortable for them, but probably no where near as uncomfortable as actually serving in Russia.

They look like very low morale soldiers. My old military unit could probably route them with a few pyrotechnics and blank training amunition. Grin

Question?

Andrey you stated once that the new DLCs would be compatable with the old DLCs from APOS.

Does that mean if I buy the new modern Africa DLC that I could potentially use the German and Russian Summer forces from APOS on the new Africa map for Quick Battles?

Andrey has said Russians are involved..so it's either Russian Revolution or the already announced  Nomagahan.

The Africa thing has been a red herring.

Then why does He keep showing pictures of animals in Africa and black soldiers?

I'm under the impression the Russians He is refering to,are either advisors and/or Helicopter or Air Craft crewmen.
I think He aslo mentioned the Mi-24 Hind attack helicopter was also refered to as the Crocodile.

Angola

Thus the SADF involvement in 1987 on the side of UNITA.

Could it be Operations Modular, Hooper and Packer?.

Operation hooper..........or part of it was done in SABOW.  Bringing in that into GT series is great.  MAny where hoping this would happen way back when.  But I guess we will see...............

It will be interesting if Graviteam confirms a modern era DLC. Personally I probably won't buy it as post WW2 conflicts and weaponry isn't of much interest but good luck to them, as I say, an interesting development for many.

Kind regards

I'm of the mind that all the hints point to Angolan civil war DLC.

Though the mention of Italians led me to believe Italian East Africa and the Ethopian-Eritrean war, and Rome vs Carthage was highly misleading the Punic wars were mostly a Mediterranean  affair ending with the destruction of Carthage which is a modern day suburb of Tunis in Tunisia.

Flashburn is working on a Tunisia project for the battle of Longstop Hill December 1942.But,from what He has posted on this and other forums is that He still has quite a ways to go before the light at the end of the tunnel starts to come into view.

His Tunisia project so far is the one I look forward to the most and I see a lot of future long term potential from it once He completes it.
