From what I read on Russian forums Andrey stated the next DLC after Angloa is Afghanistan.

I thought thats what we would see next, all those hints, except for the Leopard vs Lion made absolutely no sense to me. Smiley

In those screenshots it doesn't look like the Muj have a whole lot of cover and concealment to ambush from.
Too bad for them Grin

Well, not so simple  Grin.
First letter of country is A, for province is G, for area is R

Well, I said earlier (for Angola) that the lion is the Soviet Union in 70-80 years.
It remains only to find out who are the leopard and the bird! in the desert  Grin

Hey Flashburn,

You wanted to see some Order of battle and  Tables of organization and equipment (OOB and TO&E) on Angola earlier. Here is reference for all the combatants, both sides.Sept.1987

http://www.warinangola.com/Default.aspx?tabid=671

This site is very good for that information, very detailed down to squad weapons.
There is a disclaimer though for the OOBs,not so much because they are inaccurate, but because they haven't been authenticated, but it is still better than anything else I could find for this level of detail.

Most likely authorized strength as opposed to actual combat strength.

Is much better DLC than last one... maybe i prefer other conflict like middle east, gulf war 1990, Vietnam 1972-1975... or WW3 but lets see how works the engine in modern.

Other thing is why they dont convert the SABOW battles to APOS engine, maybe as DLC...

Its not an conversion from SABOW. Yes, the same battle, practically the same place but almost completely different.
Conversion from SABOW will not be and in future too.

Andrey,

If helicopters are in the new DLC,will the player be able to use any of them for troop transport and supply?
Or,are they only going to be used as gun platforms in the close air support role?

Yes, at the operational phase they may be used to drop supply.

OK  8)

Had a brief picture in my mind of burning soldiers (falling out of helicopers or fleeing from crashed helicopers) on a failed tactical air mobile combat insertion Grin

My guess is the Iran Iraq War 1980 or Afghan Civil War,right before the Soviets invaded in Dec.1979

interesting.........  The rate they are moving on polygon seems fast. Also gives me ideas.  If they went ahead with this one, they must think Hooper is pretty good.

Hooper looks real good to me,I hope it sells well and they expand on other Angolan operations a little more in the future.
I've been doing some more reading on the Angolan Civil Wars lately and I find it to be quite an interesting conflict with plenty of different operations over a 15 year period that would suit this game engine perfectly.
