Will it be German or Soviet missions? Because  both Pz. IVF2 and Pz. III/L60 appeared after Barbarossa, so it'll be hard to deal with T-34 and KV only with  75-mm L24 or short 50mm  gun.  Grin
On the other hand it should be hard  to fight german vehicles in T-34 or KV too, because 76-mm tank guns at that time almost didn't have AP rounds. Instead shrapnel rounds had been used.

Campaign will play in the early weeks of Barbarossa when KV and T-34 were rare. It will be playable from the german side and you are driving a Panzer III  Grin but i might switch to Panzer IV later in the campaign.
You will be part of the Panzergruppe 2 (Guderian) XXXXVII Pz.K. and cross the Bug river near Brest-Litowsk and will have to fight the Bialystok pocket . Marching over Slonim - Sluzk - Minsk and cross the Beresina. Campaign goal for now is Smolensk area.
It´s semi historical. The history background is there but the missions and tank battles are my own imagination/fiction.

I thinkthe vast majority of Soviet tanks in the early months of Barbarossa were T-26,28,35,60,70, BTs etc.The T-34s, if I remember correctly,  did not appear until October 1941 and there were just a handful of KV1s at that time. For the German side you had Panzer IV F1s and Stug B/C/Ds and Panzer III s with the short 37 mm gun and the Panzer 38t and IIs.

Ok, you've stepped on my ground. Smiley Here's the map:

6th mechanized corps in Bialystok area was the most powerful one. It had over 1000 tanks -  238 of those were T-34 and 114 were KV (also 416 BT, 126 T-26, 127 other types). Corps moved from Bialystok to Grodno area (many vehicles were lost during march) and clashed with 256 infantry division (3 Stug III, 88 and 150 mm guns) and 162 infantry division. Then remains of the corps retreated by the end of June to Slonim area where they, disorganized, fought with forces of 2. Panzergruppe (29th motorized division confirmed, German tanks also confirmed).
Some photos of KV of 6th corps here:http://imf.forum24.ru/?1-9-0-00000056-000-0-0

13th mechanized corps had 244 T-26, 15 BT and 16 T-38 and was destroyed in battles with 9th army corps.

14th mechanized corps of 4th Army was stationed in Brest area and had 528 T-26, 6 BT and 10 T-38. That was the one 2. Panzergruppe clashed with. By 29th June remains of the corps retreated to Beresina river.
17th mechanized corps (in the process of formation) had 24 BT, 1 T-26 and 11 T-38.

Also 11th  mechanized corps in Grodno area had 3 KV, 28 T-34, 44 BT and 141 T-26. This one fought against tanks of 3. Panzergruppe.

That was about Soviet tanks in this region.

Now about Wehrmacht tank divisions:
There were 2 panzerdivisions (17th and 18th) in 47th motorized corps and 2 (3rd and 4th) in 24th motorized corps of 2. Panzergruppe.

17th panzerdivision   had  44 Pz.II, 106 Pz.III, 30 Pz.IV.
18th panzerdivision had  50 Pz.II, 99 Pz.III (37 mm), 15 Pz.III (50 mm), 36 Pz.IV.

3rd panzerdivision  had  44 Pz.II, 106 Pz.III, 30 Pz.IV.
4th panzerdivision had  50 Pz.II, 99 Pz.III (37 mm), 15 Pz.III (50 mm), 36 Pz.IV.

Now the main problem. Pz. III J which we have in SF, did not participate in Barbarossa campaign, because it was put in production later. In summer offensive participated Pz. III of G and H model and those have some noticeabe differences from J model - like shorter hull, different rear and bolted armor.

As a bit of a footnote,

the Panzer III J with the short L/42 gun seems to bear a close resemblance to the Panzer III H, and it can be 'unlocked', so to speak, as a player tank since it

shares the same model with the Panzer III J L/60.

Thanks for the clarification Mistwalker! So the T34s and Kvs in the game can be used for Barbarossa!BTWhat is the official end of Barbarossa? In September 1941 when Hitler decided to focus on the Ukraine rather than push to Moscow as fast as possible as advocated by Guderian?

Somehow I don't think it ever had an 'official' end since it ended in failure Smiley

But I think it was well and truly brought to an end with the Soviet counter-offensive at Moscow in December '41.
