Hello there fellow tankers!

I'm Daskal351, it's my first post here but it doesen't mean that I'm new. I've been reading this forum for almost year and playing Steel Fury: Kharkov 1942 even longer. I know that you know this, but it's one of the best tank simulators I've ever played.

Some time ago I decideed to make few modifcations for SFK and I'd like to know what you veterans think about mods created by me.

Here are videos about them:

1) My 1st sound mod (T-34 turret rotation). Video does not exist anymore.

2) 2nd mod (pillar sound for T-34 based vehicles). Video does not exist anymore.

And a small SFK tribute:

Everything is explained in the video descriptions.

Thanks a lot, I'm glad that you like it.

You can download them from here: http://letitbit.net/download/44920.420cfa47a4b56b6d7f091d4a31ab/sounds_for_sfk.rar.html

Make a backup copy of following files: diesel_3 , v2_engine , drive_t34 and pillar_1

Extract "sound" folder to ...\Lighthouse Interactive\Steel Fury - Kharkov 1942\data\k42\loc_rus\ and overwrite the existing files. DO NOT FORGET ABOUT THE BACKUP COPIES! Just in case if the sound won't fit your taste or it won't work correctly.

Inform me if you have any troubles with these sounds, I'll try to help.

Btw. Here's another tribute video I made. Rate comment, share your opinion.  8) I tried to choose only best screenshots.

As for KV1 sounds... I can release  them if frinik will allow me to publish his track sounds which is better than mine in this sound pack.  Pack will contain: Engine starter, engine sound, track sound (mine or frinik's if he'll allow to publish it), both turret rotation sounds, reload sound (set for KV1 gun reload time, 11 seconds). Reason of delays is that I got stuck at hatch open/close sound.

Or maybe you want test vid first to see if it's worth of publishing?

Today I started to work on PZ.III sounds.

Current progress.

All sounds are from original Pz.III/StuG.III

Still needs both turret rotation sunds, reload and hatch open/close sound.

It's still a work in progress, so please don't ask me for these sounds. You'll get them when I'll release them.

Whow!
The PzIII sounds cool. No longer the stock sewing machine sound. BTW:the PzIV could also need a realistic sound.

Can i make a suggestion? The high pitch sound (squeak) seems a bit overdone and the engine off(?)  sounds somewhat synthetic.

As I said. It's and early WIP.

Don't worry about Pz.IV mate. There also will be sounds for it... someday.

First of all, sounds are pretty long. Thay last about one minute or maybe a bit longer. That's because I hate when the sound is too short and looping. And you hear the same sound sequence all the time.

Track sounds is mixed from 3 different Pz.III/StuG.III sounds. It was the only way to make it noticeable. Otherwise, with separate sounds you could hear only engine working on higher RPMs and some very quiet clanking instead of real track sound where you hear everything, engine, track clanking and squeaking. Maybe track squeking sound is too high, but keep in mind that Pz.III had small and thin tracks. Smaller/thinner tracks = higher pitch and squeaking. Besides, material for track squeaking, which was original, sounded the same, I didn't changed the pitch or anything like that.

There's no typicall engine turn off sound in SFK1942. In game, when you turn off your tank engine (ctrl + u or i), the game modulates the engine sound to 0. There's something screwed up with sound modulation in Pz.III when turning off the engine. I noticed that earlier, even when I played with default sounds. Even if the hud shows that enginge is turned down, you can still hear it for some time. It's most probably game fault or something's screwed up in .engcfg file. I really don't know what's wrong with that nor which line in .engcfg file is responsible for that. If somebody knows what causes that, please tell me, which line should be corrected.

As I said earlier. Engine sounds last for over a minute. And it's not on the same RPMs, not the same constant roaring. It changes. RPMs are going up and down a bit and in one moment they drop so low that engine almost stops. It's made on purpose to make the engine sound different not only the same sound loop or constant roaring. And to give you a sensation that your driver is trying to keep the engine running which can die in every moment and/or he's not keeping it on constant RPM like a moron. Besides, it's very annoying when you hear the same sound loop, for example lasting 3 second, for 20 minutes, especially when it's too loud or pitch is too high.

Cheers.

Hi frinik.

I receved your mails with sounds. And tested the new ones. They're pretty cool, especially jagdpanther engine.

Btw. Thanks for the hatch sounds.
